I joined the JASNA (Jane Austen Society of North America) recently, and took the train into NYC and went to a meeting for the first time on Saturday. There was a brunch for new members before hand, so I got to meet a few people that way. There where quite a few more people at the meeting, and everyone I talked with seemed perfectly amiable. Sing a Song of Sixpence
Did Karaoke with Rachael, Maggie, Zara, Erika, and Arline on Saturday and it was quite fun. I’m forever indebted to them all, for tolerating my awful singing and for introducing me to some new songs. I regret that I’ve been too busy to sit down and write for a while, working all week and celebrating my birthday every weekend (I’ve apparently aged several years in the past couple weeks). It’s what comes from living so far out here on this ridiculous Island, with family and friends all off in their own orbits ( Read more... ) -
Cha-cha-changes
My work schedule will be much reduced in the Fall, due to the baby starting pre-school, which would be a big problem, except that I’ve been…oh, somewhere between “playing with the idea of” and “definitely planning on”…going to grad school then. This was another busy weekend. Went to Ben’s on Friday, and then to Arline’s on Saturday. It was her birthday, so Maggie, Maria, D, and many other of her friends where there. I was telling the baby the story of Sleeping Beauty the other day. I was at the part where the fairies come to the princesses christening and give her gifts “The first fairy waved her wand and said ‘you’ll be the smartest girl in the land’. I’ve been acquiring music (Legally, of course!)
I was listening to The Cosmos Rocks today; it’s the first studio album Queen has released since Made in Heaven, which was completed after Freddy Mercury passed away, but at his behest and using material he recorded. I think I’ll be able to appreciate Cosmos on it’s own merits someday, but right now it just makes me miss someone I never met who ( Read more... ) -

Christmas/New Years I spent at my mom’s house on Cape Cod, which was relaxing and pleasant all around. Alyssa and I went to see Marley and Me. Ben came up for a few days. Yay! It’s snowing here!!! It’s really nice snow too. It’s very crystaly, and it makes a rustling sound as it falls.
