NORMAL POV / FLASHBACK
Kyuhyun and Sungmin have been together for 3 years, but after a week of endless fights about the former's plan on chasing his dream to become an actor, he finally decided to follow his heart and leave the love of his life for his dream. Meanwhile, Sungmin had already been planning on telling him that she was already on her 2nd month of pregnancy.
On the night that she was about to tell Kyuhyun the news, the latter started another fight when he took his suitcase from one of the cabinets and placed it in front of her. Sungmin started crying when she realized what was about to happen.
"I didn't think you'd ever leave me, Kyu" Sungmin said, crying her heart out as she watched Kyuhyun gather all of his things in their apartment and place it in the suitcase that was laid out in front of her. She tried really hard to stop him from leaving, but she failed, knowing that he was unstoppable when it comes to getting what he wanted, especially his dream.
"I want to go after my dream, but you're the only one that's stopping me" Kyuhyun replied, his pride and selfishness overpowering him. He wanted to become an actor, so bad, but even though he loved Sungmin, he still chose his dream over her, thinking that it was the best for him and that he would find someone like her eventually.
"I hate you! I hate you so much!" Sungmin continued crying, but before she could even say it to him, Kyuhyun had already left their apartment and left her; broken, alone and pregnant with his child.
END OF FLASHBACK
SUNGMIN'S POV
"Taemin! Look at the mess you've made. Aigoo, umma has to give you a bath again" I said as my 2-year-old daughter poured her milk all over her body. We were having breakfast, and since she didn't want to eat baby food, I decided to just give her milk.
"But Taemin wants to smell like milk and not flowers!" Oh, since when did this little girl learn to complain? I giggled at her and took her away from the baby chair to give her a bath. While I was giving her a bath, she asked me the question she had been asking ever since she learned to speak and ever since she heard the word "appa" from a television show. "Umma, where's my appa?"
I bit my lip and just stared at her while I was thinking of what to say to her. Whenever she asked that question, I would immediately change our topic and she would eventually forget that she asked about him, but now, it's a little bit different, since something in me was pushing me to tell her the truth.
"I don't know, sweetie" That was all I could say, even though the truth was already on the edge of my tongue, and she just stared at me with her doe eyes, one of the things she inherited from me, but her lips, it was just like his.
"Will Taemin ever get to see him?" I was left speechless again as she continued asking about her father. I didn't want to hurt my daughter. Even though I'm not sure if what I think would possibly happen, I answered her with the best answer I had.
"Maybe" I said with a smile, trying to hide the pain I was feeling inside. You see, I still love him, even though he abandoned me and Taemin for his dream. He never really found out that I was carrying a part of him. Ever since I found out from Onew, a friend of mine, that he was now one of the most popular actors in Korea and in some countries, I stopped watching local television channels. Whenever he would appear on the international channels, I'd switch off the TV immediately and cry to myself.
As for Taemin, well, I tried telling her that dramas weren't appropriate for her age, but because she inherited his stubbornness, I just let her be, and whenever she would watch them, I would distract myself with work. She got addicted to watching them and eventually became a fan of Korean dramas and not of kiddie shows. When she first saw him on a drama, she instantly became a fan of his, saying he was cute and was a good actor. If only she knew that she was a part of him.. that she was a part of her idol.
While I was dressing her up, the doorbell rang and she ran towards the door, the back of her dress still wide open. "Taemin!" I ran after her so I could zip up the back of her dress, but it was too late, she had already opened the door.
"Onew ahjusshi!" Taemin shouted as she ran up and gave Onew a hug. Onew has been a friend of mine since high school. We got separated in college and was only able to talk again after graduating. He was there when I gave birth to Taemin, and I told him about what happened and who the father was. Onew was really disappointed in what Kyuhyun did, but he just told me to be strong and just move on. I moved on with my life, but I can't help myself of the fact that I still love him.
"Taemin ah, why is your dress unzipped? Were you too excited to open the door that you didn't let your umma finish dressing you up?" Onew said, laughing while he closed Taemin's dress. "Sungmin ah!" He said as he placed Taemin down and gave me a hug.
"Thank you for being here today, Onew" I said when we broke the hug. Today was my first day as an SM artist's manager. Being a manager of an idol group is not new to me, since I worked in JYP Entertainment before as 2PM's manager. I decided to transfer to SM because Taemin said she wanted me to manage her favorite idol groups so she could meet them. My daughter, such a fangirl.
"So, SM Entertainment, huh? Who's the idol group you're going to manage? Super Junior? SHINee? DBSK?" Onew asked as we sat on the couch.
"I still don't know, but I'm really nervous" I said while I was fixing my blouse.
"Well, we better not let them wait. Let's go" Onew said as he carried Taemin and I got our bags from the coffee table.
The drive to SM Entertainment was quiet but fun. Taemin kept singing SHINee's "Hello" in the backseat and Onew and I could only giggle at her actions. She inherited our singing talents.
We went inside the building and waited in the lobby to be called. "Onew ah, I'll just go to the comfort room. Please watch after Taemin for me" I said as I headed to the comfort room.
When I got back to the lobby, I was surprised when I saw Onew and Taemin talking to two guys. I immediately ran towards them, thinking that Taemin must've done something, but when I saw that they were smiling, my worry went away. "Onew! Oh, did she run away again?" I asked and as I turned around, I was shocked when I saw him standing right in front of me. It has been a long time and he had become more handsome than before. Both of us then stared at each other.
"Sungmin? What are you doing here?" Both of us were brought back to our senses and I noticed that it was Jonghyun.
"Umma! Umma!" Taemin called out to me, reaching out her little hands. I took her from Onew and looked back to him. He looked so surprised to see that I was a mother now. If only he knew.
"I'll be working here as an SM artist's manager. They told me I was going to meet him today" I spoke, trying to act cool and all, even though I noticed that he and Jonghyun looked dumbfounded by my statement. I didn't know that he was an SM talent, but I kept chanting inside my mind that it wouldn't be him I was going to manage. I do love him, but I don't want to be with him again, thinking he might disown Taemin when he finds out.
"Ah, I see you've met each other already" I was shocked when I heard my boss, Lee Soo Man, spoke, but I was more surprised when I comprised what he said. Kyuhyun was the one I was going to manage, the one I was going to take care of. "I guess you don't need to be introduced to each other anymore. Sungmin, just tell me if you have problems with him, okay?" He then left the five of us, still shocked of what just happened, except for Taemin who was happy about the news. Why did she even have to be a fan of his?
Onew was the first one to break the silence. "Well, since tomorrow's when you'll start, let's go to the mall now. I'm really hungry, and so is this little angel"
"Umma, Taemin is hungry already. Oh, and can Kyuhyun come?" The four of us were taken aback by Taemin's statement, but I tried to keep my cool and answered her.
"He still has his schedule, baby. And it's not Kyuhyun, it's Kyuhyun ap-" I stopped myself and realized what I was about to say, but good thing it wasn't loud enough for him to hear. "It's Kyuhyun ahjusshi, okay?" I explained to her and she nodded. I noticed Jonghyun laughed and teased him, making me control my laughter. You're really her appa, Kyuhyun ah, but I don't want you to know.
"Sungmin, can we exchange numbers? You are my manager after all" I was surprised when he spoke. It was the first time after a long time that I heard his voice again. It's still the same, soothing but sexy. I just nodded and gave him my call card while Jonghyun gave me his. Oh, Jonghyun's his personal assistant? I was about to ask but Onew spoke first.
"We'll be going now" Onew said as he pulled me away.
"Bye bye" Taemin said while looking back at them and waving.
I hope everything will be alright tomorrow. Sungmin, hwaiting!
A/N: Please tell me if it was confusing. ;___; And yay, long chappie. \:D/ To be honest, "Reset" is my favorite SJ song, which is why I chose it for this fic's title. :P :))
