Some love stories last, some love stories don't and some even end up having a tragic ending. For Cho Kyuhyun and Lee Sungmin, their love story used to be full of love and care, but when they found out about each other's deepest and darkest secret, it all changed.
Despite having a dangerous and complicated life, both Kyuhyun and Sungmin hid it behind their lives as cafe employees. None of them knew that the other was hiding something, something both of them can't escape as it was a part of their life.
Their love story began when Kyuhyun confessed to Sungmin as soon as the cafe closed. Sungmin was in the employees' lounge while Kyuhyun and their co-workers were busy setting up in the cafe. As soon as Sungmin stepped out of the lounge, she was surprised to see Kyuhyun holding a bouquet of roses and their co-workers holding a "Will you be mine?" banner.
It was so unexpected that Sungmin ended up crying tears of joy and running towards Kyuhyun to give him a bone crushing hug and a sweet kiss on the lips. From that night on, they became a couple and loved each other like best friends, like lovers and just like a married couple, unaware of the problem that was after them.

Everyone was happy for the couple, everyone except their parents.
"Dad, mom, I'd like you to meet my boyfriend, Cho Kyuhyun" Sungmin said with a blush on her face as she introduced Kyuhyun to her parents. The latter reached out to shake hands with the former's parents, but they just nodded at him and he pulled back his hand and just smiled at them.
Sungmin could sense something was wrong, but she just ignored it. During dinner, everyone was so quiet but Mr. and Mrs. Lee kept a close eye on Kyuhyun.
As soon as Mr. and Mrs. Lee were left alone in the dining room, they checked to see if their daughter could hear them before they opened their mouths.
"We can't have that boy here! It's not safe for us" Mrs. Lee began as she stared at the living room where Kyuhyun and Sungmin were playing a video game.
"We can't break our daughter's heart too" Mr. Lee replied as he placed an arm around his wife to calm her.
"She's gonna find out one way or another" Mrs. Lee retorted as she hugged her husband.

A few weeks later, Kyuhyun invited Sungmin and her parents over for dinner at their place. Mr. and Mrs. Lee got shocked, but had to hide their nervousness so as not to worry the young couple. They agreed, but they had to bring some things with them in case things become dangerous.
When they arrived at the Chos' residence, Mr. and Mrs. Lee had to put on a fake smile for their daughter, but as soon as the front door opened and Mr. and Mrs. Cho came out to greet them, it disappeared and was replaced by an exchange of glares.
"Is something wrong? Do you know each other?" Kyuhyun asked as he felt the tension between their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Cho stopped glaring and nodded a negative at their son, but as soon as Kyuhyun and Sungmin were out of their sight, the tension became worse.
Dinner was once again quiet, but Kyuhyun and Sungmin could feel something was wrong. When the Lees bid their goodbyes, Mr. and Mrs. Cho confronted Kyuhyun and told him the truth.
"You can't date her, Kyuhyun. Her parents are awful people" Mr. Cho stated as he looked at his son who remained motionless after hearing that his parents and Sungmin's parents were members of secret organizations and were against each other.
"Her parents were the ones who killed Ahra. Their boss asked them to go after her because he wanted to finish our organization and didn't want new members coming aboard" Mrs. Cho added as a tear escaped one of her eyes, remembering her late daughter.
"You told me Ahra unnie died in an accident!" Kyuhyun stood up as he banged his hands on the dining table. He was so close to his older sister that when he found out about her death, he became devastated and almost committed suicide on that day but was stopped by his parents.
"This is where you come in, Kyuhyun. You have to take revenge on the Lees. You have to kill them" Mr. Cho revealed and earned a look of shock from Kyuhyun. "You weren't supposed to become a member until you turn 21, but now that you've reached that age, this is your assigned task" Mr. Cho added.
"Remember what they did to your unnie. You don't know if Sungmin already knows that she's supposed to become one of them too. You're not sure if she's already after you and is just waiting for the right time to kill you" Mrs. Cho told Kyuhyun.
Kyuhyun thought about it for a while, but remembering her older sister whom he loved so much, he was ready to do it, even if it means killing the girl he loves.

Kyuhyun pretended that nothing happened and continued his relationship with Sungmin. When he would look into her eyes and she would smile at him, he started having second thoughts on his assigned task. Maybe Sungmin didn't know or maybe she did, he's not sure.
Mr. and Mrs. Cho brought Kyuhyun to their organization's hideout in a province and South Korea and the latter began his training there. He was taught how to defend himself using his body and using weapons. Despite the hard training, Kyuhyun did it for his older sister, even though Sungmin would flash in his mind and every now and then and make him feel guilty for what he was going to do.
When he didn't do an exercise properly, he would get beaten up, but his parents told him that it was a requirement in order to motivate a trainee.

On his last day of training, Kyuhyun had to file a resignation from the cafe in order to be able to focus on his task. When Sungmin asked him why, "I just need to focus on some things. I'll still pick you up after closing time", he told her as he gave her a sweet and deep kiss.
On that day, when Kyuhyun picked Sungmin up, he brought her over to his place. Since his parents weren't around, he decided to give himself to her before he does his task. Sungmin gave herself wholeheartedly to him as well.
Kyuhyun's room got filled with moans and whispers of "I love you", but it was all for love, not lust.

Almost a year into his relationship with Sungmin, he had no choice but to end it on the day of their anniversary. It hurt him, it really did, but because this was for his sister and for the sake of their organization, he just had to.

On the day of their anniversary, Sungmin found out that she was already on her 1st month of pregnancy. She was about to call Kyuhyun to tell him the good news when the lights suddenly went off and Sungmin ran towards her parents room.
Sungmin could hear her parents groaning in pain and fastened her pace, but she suddenly tripped on the floor and something hit her head and soon, she was already asleep.

Sungmin woke up in an abandoned warehouse and was trying to scream for help when she realized she was tied up but failed to do so because of the tape on her mouth. In front of her, she could see her parents tied up as well and was in the same state as her.
They cried and Sungmin tried to crawl towards her parents but got hit on the head with a bat and was kicked on her back by someone. "You're not supposed to do that! Go back to your spot" Sungmin looked up and was surprised to see Mr. Cho.
A few minutes later, some people entered the room and Sungmin got more suprised to see Kyuhyun in the crowd, holding a gun and was pointing it towards her parents. Kyuhyun saw her, but avoided her gaze as he closed his eyes and aimed for Sungmin's parents.
The first one to get shot was Mr. Lee as Kyuhyun shot him straight through the chest, followed by Mrs. Lee who was shot on the head. Sungmin could only watch as her parents looked at her one last time before closing their eyes.
Kyuhyun moved towards Sungmin and was already about to shoot her, but stopped as soon as he realized what he just did. He looked back at Sungmin's parents and back to Sungmin. Kyuhyun put his gun down and hugged her, but pulled away as soon as he felt a gun pointed on his head.
"Shoot her or I'll shoot you!" Mrs. Cho said.
"Let them have their final moment" Mr. Cho stated.
Kyuhyun looked at Sungmin and he could see anger in her eyes because of what he just did and what he was about to do. He caressed her face and removed the tape from her mouth just so he could kiss her for the last time.
Kyuhyun felt Sungmin kiss back and he was now having second thoughts again. "Why, Kyuhyun, why?!" Sungmin asked him as soon as he pulled away, tears still flooding her eyes.
"Your parents killed my sister. I'm sorry, Minnie. I love you, I really do, but I have to do this" Kyuhyun replied as he stood up along with his gun, tears flowing through his eyes, and pointed it on her chest. Before Sungmin could even react, Kyuhyun already shot her.
The only thing Kyuhyun heard before Sungmin fell on the floor was, "I'm pregnant", and he remained shocked as he watched Sungmin close her eyes and say "I love you" one last time.
"Congratulations, Kyuhyun! You did it" Mr. and Mrs. Cho said as they hugged their son who was still staring at his lifeless girlfriend. Tears started flowing through his eyes again when he remembered that she was carrying their baby.
When everybody left the place, Kyuhyun hugged Sungmin's dead body and caressed her stomach. "I'm so sorry, Sungmin. I'm so sorry" It was the only thing he could do. As much as he wanted to hear her sweet voice, he couldn't because she was already gone and it's all because of him.
Kyuhyun recollected himself as he went around their organization's hideout, thoughts of Sungmin still flooding his mind. When he stepped out of the place, he could see his older sister's back. He wasn't sure if it was only an illusion.
Kyuhyun approached Ahra and he could see tears in her eyes. "Why, Kyuhyun, why? The Lees didn't do anything. It was all lies. They're not our real parents. They're the ones who killed me. They're the ones who killed our real parents. The Lees are innocent. Our parents were in the same organization as the Lees. They just used you."
Before Kyuhyun could even react, he got hit by a truck and died on the spot.
