BuLi started today, my first ever BuLi game :D
exciting, and yet, very ~typical.
thoughts on what i saw:
opening ceremony was ok, my english stream was bass sound-heavy and rumbled my speakers, and i was switching between the clearer sounding and looking german stream and muddier bass-shaking english stream, whilst simultaneously training my jolteon (whom i named Thomas, ~irrelevant info~) in pokémon soul silver, so naturally, i wasn't really paying attention.
i want one of those... bubble ball things. yeah, i do :/ also the bundesliga balloon. i want a giant balloon. ok enough about that. onto the football.
strong showing from both teams. i have trouble remembering names :/ because i suck like that, but time and constant exposure to the league will help me.
Bayern were stronger in the first half, dominating possession, and generally creating more chances and playing "keep away" with Wolfsburg. Lahm was sort of invisible, and Klose really didn't... do much, which disappointed me because i like watching him succeed, but it's still early in the season and the summer was pretty hectic *koffkoffworldcupkoffkoff* so ~time will tell~. i want Klose goals more than anything right now, i don't really know why.
Müller scored the first bundesliga season goal in the 9th minute after a really cool one-two with Kroos and the crowd exploded and he was blowing kisses and was manpiled by the team and i was heppi :D
then van Bommel received the first yellow card of the bundesliga season for a van Bommel-esque ~love-tap~ foul (not his worse, imo) after three warnings. haha, typical van Bommel (i like him, he plays rough :P)
how very fitting, müller scores the first goal of the season and van Bommel receives the first yellow card of the season. now all Bayern have to do it win the first game of the season and this will tie up the ~typical~ nature of FC Bayern in their opening match.
also, Ribery did a bit of flailing in the first half in a sort of... dive after a delayed reaction to being clipped and it won a free kick, but i was honestly embarrassed by him. i mean, compared to Müller, who flopped over in the second half after being tripped, and got up immediately to chase the ball before the ref blew the whistle for the foul and free kick. haha germans.
also i didn't mention, but Arne wasn't on for Wolfsburg due to back injury :/ he was sorely missed.
and then the rest of the half was bayern playing keep away with wolfsburg and wolfsburg GK Benaglio being a boss and punching away crosses and klose and müller and van bommel shooting over the top and kroos and badstuber shooting it wide and generally the excitement bled away until the whistle
i also want to say i love the bundesliga ball; "Torfabrik" (literally 'goal material'), it just sounds badass in German (and with the Bundesliga as the league with the most goals scored per season, it is very fitting. how ~typical. ok i'll stop.) i mean, "goal" in german is just fantastic, i mean "TOOOORRRRRRRR" ffs ill shut up now.
sooo second half. idk what happened in the locker rooms, but Bayern took their foot off the gas and Wolfsburg pretty much floored it.
Džeko, the captain for Wolfsburg scored for Wolfsburg in the 9th minute of the second half, after Jörg Butt (GK for Bayern) committed a clearing error which gave Wolfsburg the corner kick set piece, and then it was Wolfsburg taking the ball into the Bayern half again and again and the defence struggling.
basically.
poor bb Lahm was stepped all over at one point. and he bitchfaced like whoa.
and Wolfsburg kept attacking Schweinsteiger. IDK what makes him such a target, but seriously, foul... foul... omg kick the ball at the goal not schweini to the floor. but he's okay. i think. (he was limping a bit though, but he looked okay during the post-game interview idk)
After the equalizer, Bayern stepped it up again and it was pretty... exciting second half :D
it looked like Wolfsburg were going to get away with a draw, but then Ribery made a cross to the far post and Schweini knocked it in past Benaglio for the winner in stoppage time (how typically dramalific, Bayern. i hear they are the "last minute Bayern", and honestly with the DFB-Pokal game on Monday, scoring late in both halves, and this one, i'll have to agree). and Bayern won 2-1. Basti smacked the corner flag in celebration and it rebounded and hit his head, rofl, but I don't think he noticed because he was too busy getting love from his team haha
not great goal difference for Bayern; i don't see them at the top of the charts (top half-middle maybe) when the weekend fixtures are all played out, but a good start for a great team. btw, get a working defence, Bayern. it would aid you greatly.
Wolfsburg played really well in the second half, and honestly, either team could have gotten the 2-1 victory (i don't see it climbing any higher), if Friedrich was playing, Wolfsburg would have been really dangerous for Bayern, i think, and the match would definitely have been a more frantic affair.
well... it's just the first game of the bundesliga season, so there's room for much more drama in the future, especially since i'm streaming two more games this weekend, Werder Bremen's clash against Hoffenheim tomorrow and Leverkusen's clash against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday (more than one match a day might kill me), so i've a lot more to absorb regarding the teams and style of play in the bundesliga.
also, i got to pick a team to support so i don't kill myself during the school year, but that leads on tooo...
thoughts on supporting:
counting players i quite admire and know for various reasons
Bayern: schweinsteiger, lahm, müller, van bommel, Kroos, Badstuber, klose, robben
score: 8
Werder: marin, mertesacker, özil
score: 3 2... and a half :/ not that özil is coming back or anything
Leverkusen: adler, ballack
score: 2
counting team charm:
Bayern: teamgeist, bayern celebration parties, oktoberfest, being a generally loving and lovable team, drunk Holger, thomas-toni bromance, thomas-holger bromance
score: 7
Werder: drunk mertesacker, bb marin being bb marin, being generally successful but not boring-invincible-hero successful, özil-marin-hunt attacking formula, since özil is gone marin will play even more yess, i got a good feeling about this team
score: 6*
Leverkusen: classy Adler is classy, Adler is a great GK i want to watch him, being generally successful but not boring-invincible-hero successful, Michael Ballack returns to Bundesliga, those kits are fantastic
score: 5*
deductions idk, stuff i am uncomfortable with:
Bayern: "errybody hate Bayern", being favourites all the time, Mario "-_-" Gomez, arguably club-form Klose :/, ..."errybody hate Bayern" should be on here twice i'm sensitive to hate :'(
Score: -5
Werder Bremen: those kits gotta go, werder v bayern will kill me idk who to support, özil leaving for RM
Score: -3*
Leverkusen: no particular complaints
Score: 0*
*=not yet fully accessed and woefully uninformed of what i can be informed of as of August 21, 2010
scores:
Bayern: 8 + 7 - 5
Score: 10
Werder: 2.5 + 6 - 3
Score: 5.5
Leverkusen: 2 + 5 - 0
Score: 7
CONCLUSION:
MUST WATCH MORE BUNDESLIGA, I CAN'T MAKE A DECISION BASED ON THIS.
also, whoa Bayern loving by a landslide, what is life.
biggest trouble for me, imo, is Bayern v. Werder. i can honestly not pick between them, and no i will not support both. :(
honestly, i can see myself supporting Leverkusen because i'll be so conflicted about the two front runners that i'll end up looking for the charm in someone else and fall in love with the third party.
and that is a crappy way to pick a team. so, in conclusion, i want to fall in love with a team as i did with die mannschaft this summer and that means watching as many teams as i can and learning about as many teams as i can.
idk how i even fell in love with die mannschaft, it just happened. why can't all sports team love happen like that. >(
