Michael Ballack is "officially" captain of die mannschaft again, and i am happy
like, really happy.
this is odd, considering i only really started following the team this WC, and thus, have only really followed Philipp Lahm as captain of the German nationalmannschaft, and thus, "know" Lahm better.
this might be my dad's Chelsea-fan influence bleeding into me. haw haw.
but in all honesty, i'm really happy about this. I might not have followed German football, or football in general, religiously for the past decade of my life, but i respect Ballack as a player, and he has been the face of German football for around a decade - this man is really important guys. O: and he hasn't done a bad job at all.
it was the best decision, i think. Ballack is nearing the end of his professional career D: and for a man who has done so much for German football, to pick Lahm over Ballack due to him missing a phenomenal WC (in which the team he led through qualifying performed most fabulously) due to uncontrollable events (grrr Kevin-Prince Boateng) is an absolute insult not only to this amazing footballer, but to German football itself. i mean, honestly, if Löw picked Lahm, the media would go into a frenzy and [part of] the footballing world would implode.
in my opinion. just saying.
man, in three short months i have really formed opinions on football. ಠ_ಠ
Besides, realistically, Ballack himself has said he doesn't expect to stick around on international duty for the 2014 world cup; i've heard people say his prospects for Euros 2012 are not that great (i want him to captain the team to victory, please, he's had too many second place finishes over his footie career. it's heartbreaking). Lahm is only just 26 - he has time; and he's a defender - defenders typically last longer than strikers or midfielders - although, i understand his worry and timing with his statements what with Schweinsteiger, who is a candidate just as good, if not better and around the same age, right at his heels.
personally i want Schweini as Ballack's successor, but shhh, we're talking about Ballack and Lahm right now
the only downside is that Löw still has deemed Ballack unfit for international duty (given his club form, i can understand. sort of) BUT the fear is that Löw will continue to not call Ballack up forever. That's a real worry. but I don't see that happening unless he wants the media to crucify him. also, fans.
Lahm, it's kay, i still love you, but just wait 2 years. You can do that.
also pay off Schweini so he won't take the captaincy that you laid claim to away from you
...actually, LAHM YOU CAN HAVE IT FOR WC QUALIFYING, but Basti for captain during Brazil '14 and beyond. chyeaaahhhh sry, Lahm, i love basti more. mwah♥♥♥ plus you are already next in line for captaincy at bayern, don't take this from basti too D:
anyways, those are my thoughts on the captaincy battle as of now. i expect more opinions in the future when Löw does some more crazy shit in the future, idk

then we're going to Canada Computers to look at headphones because my brother wants headphones (why can't my wants be addressed this way, daddd D:) also, i'm going to look around for technological needs. i want headphones too, but i'm already taking my speakers with me to university, so i'm probably not getting them.
also, i'm already not getting a new laptop D: but my dad is considering buying me one at Christmas - he just doesn't feel it right now. Also, i got another scholarship chunk of money, so if I use that for my tuition and ancillary fees, as well as my entrance scholarship, that leaves all of my OSAP for the remainder of my residence. Ergo: my dad no longer has to pay for my university this year - everything should be covered for the rest of this year.
