I hate my mac
I loathe my mac
Everything that it does infuriates me
I do not recommend mac.
Not ever. Ever.
Hate it hate it hate it hate it.
It is a cruel combination of casual and expert user for an interface and it never tells you when it is being one way or the other.
It hides security settings. Right now I'm fighting with a program because, at some point in the system, there is a pissant little electronic bureaucrat who refuses to let it run because it MIGHT be a virus. Or, it might be a bad file in my java webstart.. which will let me fix it in windows but won't open in mac. Also, Sun's programs for Mac stop downloading and become corrupted if the screensaver kicks in. So now I have a mess in settings that I can't access without some magical secret Mac method of access.
So God help you if something decides it doesn't want to run and you are on a Mac.
Oh, but the dock is shiny! Oh, and it spell checks as you type! Colour. There, thats a correct incorrect spelling. And then there is the near absolute lack of support. If anything ever does happen, good luck. At least with my windows comp there is a VAST support network. Viruses? "LOL is *this* you on Facebook?" can take down a Mac user just as quick as a Windows user. Better quality machine? Perhaps if you bought shit parts for your windows machine.
Proper OS my ass. It may be proper under the hood but their UI is retarded. I bought this Mac so I could learn how it works and perhaps gain an appreciation for it. Now I'm seeing that if you want to do more than visual editing, it is brutally stupid. Yes, I have the command prompt/terminal but why stop there if we are going to get into expert level commands! Why not make it so I have to do all the system editing in machine language. If I wanted to memorize every system command, I'd be working with a Linux distro (which the Mac OS kind of is). This is not the first time I wish I had the balls to cover this thing in lighter fluid, throw a match, and watch it burn.
I'd say this rant is over but I don't think it will be. Buying this mac was certainly one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made.
Though, I do feel like going back in and fighting with it again.
I hate my Mac.
