Hey Dennis!

I'm sorry to hear about your panic attack.  My cousin used to get them and said she just had to breathe through them and repeat a mantra over and over.  I think hers was, "Slowly, slowly, slowly."  I hope you feel better.

I have a question for you, though.  So I'm a democrat and pretty politically active for my age, but I'm having a tough time ( Read more... )

Okies, let's see if I can tackle this bit by bit.

In a way, what Obama says would be enough. To some people. A lot of Gays & Lesbians don't want Civil Unions mostly because Civil Unions don't have the same protections as a Gay Marriage. (I can give you links showing the differences if you want). IF say Obama was to give ALL protections that you get under marriage for Same Sex Unions, that wouldn't be that bad, but a lot of GLBT people would probably be against it cause it's not called Marriage and it's like treating them like they are second class citizens. Which, I guess I can understand.

So gay couples are entitled to the same rights non gay couples are, right?
We should be yes, but for some reason, treating everyone equally has to pass over a lot people's heads, then again, it's always been that way with minorities. I mean look how they treated African Americans and Women for so long.

Okay, seems like we're on the same page. I just can't stand how the government is blatantly ignoring the 9th Ammendment. And I also don't understand why certain people are threatened by glbt (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender? is that the T?) marriage. How does someone elses relationship affect yours, you know? I heard a woman in a clothing store talking about it once. She was saying that she has to make sure that "the sanctity of marriage isn't weakened." Uh, if your marriage is weakened by someone else's, then you've got some problems. I'm just so sick of the tee-totalers trying to tell everybody how to live. Leave people alone and let them live their lives. It's so ridiculous, which is why I want the next president to just nip it in the bud so we can move on to other things that AREN'T spelled out clear as day in the constitution ( ... )
