Yes, the James Frey scandal is burning my ass. I find it reprehensible that such a total ass is making money off this and allegedly getting people to drop out of 12 step programs to "Hold On". Now for some perspective anyone suffering from drug and alcohol addiction that will take themselves out of AA or NA to just "hold on" is a fucking moron ( Read more... )

The real point here is that without a 12 step program and the acts of dogma that it requires you will have a minimal chance of getting or staying sober and that you will still be the same lying, cheating, conniving asshole you've always been.

Gee, and that description sounds a whole lot like the way I perceive Frey.

It's not anything the world didn't know before - well I mean most of the details. The thing that burns me so (other than the fact that Karma is not often instant) is that I'm probably NOT going to get my book on Oprahs list when it comes out, and that is wrong.

The world may have known, but I didn't, so it's nice for me to get to know you a little better.

It does suck sometimes that Karma is not always quick, but I have seen it in action enough times to trust it. As for Oprah, I hope your book is much more interesting than most of the ones she features, though I do understand that the volume would be nice.

Like I said it's fairly public knowledge. I really need to get to work this winter and knock out a draft so I can start getting rejected by publishers.

The volume thing would certainly be nice but I really can't think of a much better audience for the book. I would guess that O's regulars could use some lessons in what it takes to be beautiful and maybe a little self-esteem. I doubt however that she'd be into promoting my artwork.

Yeah that's in the movie - I didn't want to like it at first - but after the 3,000th viewing in the house it kind of grew on me. The context of the quote is probably even funnier - it's worth a rental.
