Please keep in mind this is spoken word, so the poetry is mainly in the SPOKEN aspect of it versus what's written down. But all the same...

They say the best words come when you're half waking/
half dreaming/
half falling-out-of-bed-craving-a-cup-of-coffee-feeling, well/
When I was lying in half-wake, half-dream, half-sleep, half-feel/

I/
Saw your face, the many faces, the many shapes and shades and/
I reminisced a little/
As I laid there

Your hair it went from/
Auburn to black/
to very dirty blonde to a hazelnut brown to a shade of cherry even/
I wouldn't try to possess/

Your eyes,
such beautiful graygreenblue orbs peered from/
under longshortinbetween lashes

And a pair of plumpthinkissable lips that I was/
sometimesneveralways allowed to kiss
Depending on the situation/
time of day, motivation, [per]suasion/

You hurt me and treated me like a princess/
Cheated and never would have dreamed of it, left me for some/
Unshaven shadow of a man
of a man, of a MAN/
And I left you too for some experimentation...
on the wild side/

This is one of the many final, last, endless, neverending goodbyes that I've/
happened to write for you over the years/
months, days, hours, seconds, tears/
And yet even as I write this final, last, endless, neverending goodbye to you I/

Still want to forgive and forget, I/
want to ignore him and ignore your baby too/
Want to take you against the wall and show you just what you did to me/
Did to me, did to me, DID TO ME/

I didn't ask for this and yet here it is/
And here it is, too/
My last goodbye
