for people who are bad at math?

it always puzzles me when a commercial says that such and such can be had for less than a dollar a day. usually that means that it can be had for within five cents less than a dollar a day. $0.95 x 365 is $346.75. i almost never think that's a great bargain for whatever they're selling.

random stuff

It's too much to spend on a product, but it *does* work well for soliciting donations for, say, sponsoring kids. People don't want to fork over $300+ to yet another charity, BUT the picture of the starving kids will prompt them to think about the loose change they have at the end of each day and, well, maybe they can feed someone else for that etc.

It's a good gimmick for some things. And not others.

But I noticed they don't say "For less than the price of a cup of coffee a day..." so much these days. Starbucks' $6 coffee has made that sound like a lot of money, anymore.
