Well, I'm done reading damnyouautocorrect.com. Too bad, because the DYAC part of the site was good for a daily laugh, but the "wrong number" part of the site is getting far too mean-spirited and irresponsible for me to enjoy it in good conscience ( Read more... )

...huh. I haven't seen any of those. And dammit, now I'm back on that site, laughing helplessly and still not seeing any of those.

Because ick. I bet those will stop me pretty quickly.

This one was posted yesterday. If you look at the timestamps you can see it went on for a few hours, and includes the submitter convincing the wrong-number texter to go a store, buy something and then meet up with a friend who isn't even there.

Seriously awful, ick.

Thanks, I guess I'd never noticed or clicked on any of the tabs on the top, just read through the main page. That's really, really gross.

I ought to be clear and point out it's mainly the fault of Pophangover which runs all of it, but I just don't feel like visiting any of it anymore.

I only read the dyac and not any of the other spin offs. ... But that's a really sucky thing to do. :(. Maybe if we wrote to the mods and said something they might be more careful? The dyac side mods seem like okay people.

I hope so. They're obviously not reading the comments left on that entry (or similar ones before it) where people complained about that kind of behavior...

So I hadn't heard of the site before you mentioned it (I may have seen something on Ellen, when it was on in the background once, but wasn't paying attention). It seems as though you are not the only one offended by these sorts of posts, the whole comment section is full of complaints. I agree that it is completely rude and uncalled for behaviour (attention seeking brats).
Now, though, I am completely amused with the regular site and have spent the morning giggling myself to tears (especially the parent-initiated-gaffs). I think that's the only genuinely funny part of the site, and if you notice, people who get wrong numbers and tell the person immediately post to damnyouautocorrect rather than wrongnumbertexts. The mods are probably lazy, but may wake up once they get all those complaints and put a ban on posts like those. They really need an "offensive post" button.

The DYAC part of the site is almost always truly funny and I visited nearly every day, but I guess the recent trend over at "Wrong #" just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know how the moderators could be so oblivious--especially with all the complaints--unless they figure it's a less popular part of the site so who cares, or something. An "offensive post" button would be a great idea.
