I'm going to second the thing about Jen and "stuff." But i also remember being a teenager at christmas time when your parents were getting divorced. You got a lot of stuff. big stuff from both of them. it was pretty clear to most everyone that they were competing for ....something. maybe to outdo each other, but also maybe just to prove that even though they weren't together anymore, that you were still so very important to both of them.

It's really hard to outgrow the things we are taught as children, even when we recognize they may not be the best things and we'd like to change.
