perhaps ask this question in the damnportlanders community... sometimes you find out some really random information there. it's a pretty large LJ comm. too.
Well you can always ask when you apply and if you don't like what they have to tell you, remove your application. No harm, no foul. I would think that it's not necessarily a standard, hard and fast, across the board type rule. I'd think that different communities would do what works best for them. If you asked to be put on graveyard because that's the same shift your hubby works, you never know, they just may accomodate you. The best place to get the most accurate answers to your questions I think, is to go straight to the source. Why not & why wait? You have nothing to lose, and lots to (potentially) gain. Good luck!!!! :D (I'll be a-prayin'!)
I know, I know... I should find a number and call. But I'm thinking it might be really hard to reach someone... I fear calling governmental agencies. You know, like the DMV... Everyone always seems pissed off.
I was hoping to know before applying because you answer on the application:
Are You Willing and Able to:
Yes____ No____ 17. Work any assigned shift, including evening, nights, and weekends.
I'll just have to see if there's somewhere I can call... :)

For what it's worth I think you'd do well at the job:
A. Your voice is very soothing.
B. You're married to a sleazy spaz, so chances are you'll be able to handle most of the calls that come in.
