Life in a Jar

Jan 10, 2008 15:18

Today I dragged myself to the vert. lab, despite the gross wetness outside, and got around to taking all my photos for specimen identification. That didn't take me very long, so I spent the next 30 minutes just wandering around the lab, reaching into jars, and taking photos of anything else that looked interesting.

Biology is just awesome, and zoology/any specific animal-ology is even better! Gooood, I would die to see what you can do with a camera and dead things! I bet they will be breathtaking, as per usual.

Ahhhh!!! I'm so happy for you and your new computer! Have you played around with Photobooth yet?! It's endlessly fun! I know I will totally be drawing tons of inspiration from this class, especially when we get into reptiles/amphibians! My dad actually framed that gasmask armadillo image and put it in his office. He tells me stories about ladies who come in and try to read it's "deep hidden meanings"! It must seem like such an odd thing to have in a gyno clinic. I hope you guys had awesome holidays! First time as parents/Miriam's first holidays! How exciting! I've been stalking your blog waiting for updates on her!

SO glad for you and your journey through life with a Mac! :D

Woah.....
THOSE ARE COOL. I like the cute armadillos. <3

Brittany and her friend thought they were gross, so that made me a little sad. ;_;

Btw, what is that weird orangish fish with the long fin thingy on its head? It's going to bother me if I can't figure out what it is......

The spotted one? It's a ratfish! My photos don't even begin to do its weirdness ANY justice! It was one of the craziest looking fish we learned about this week.

Baby armadillos are anything but gross, even when they're resting in jars!

Not that one, even though I just kinda stared that those ratfish for a couple of minutes because of their weirdness.

I was talking about this one:

It has that weird thing on its head......

Btw, I better see some awesome art that was inspired by these critters....

Ohhhh! He/she's a paddlefish! And that big thing is actually it's nose, to make it stranger D: It's one WEIRD fish.

Hopefully my artfulness will come back soon. I'm in a dry spell :c

Very cool.
We have a huge biology museum collection at NMU including things in jars and a LOT of taxidermy. I was really looking forward to taking stuff like mammology when I'd get to use this stuff, but... no more Bio major :/ I love this kind of stuff, but I have no love for math, statistics, chemistry, excel, etc...
