Not to mention, uneducated people assume that fledgelings need their help when really they don't... same with fawns, who are often left alone for long periods of time. But I'm preaching to the choir ;)

OH MY GOSH I know D: The fawn thing especially pissed me off, as I've seen a couple really healthy fawns passed on to clinics because they were "abandoned". This subject makes my blood boil.

Turning in a nest of baby birds (or any other baby animal for that matter) here in the US is completely free, as is turning in injured wildlife. This is why it bothers me so much when people [in the US] decide to care for the animal them self. Honestly, you're the first person I've ever heard of who has successfully taken in and released injured wildlife, let alone a bird! Success stories are so rare :C Mostly, this rant is a seasonal rant spurred on by the people who are trying to care for nestlings instead of turning them over. Nestlings are notoriously challenging to care for, especially when you get into doves and stuff that only eat crop milk and will refuse to accept food from a syringe. Baby birds are very specialized in their needs, and untrained/unleanred people should really turn the animals into a rehabilitator or vet rather than attempt to care for the birds themselves ( ... )

I can't even imagine living in a place without snakes! That's so strange! D: Are there ANY reptiles in Ireland?!

I agree with you 100% on this. I found an injured golden finch last winter, and yes, it was adorable as all hellomg, but I'm not qualified to care for an injured animal like that! So I took it to a rehab place. Where it can actually get taken care of. And won't sit there get stared at by me, who knows nothing about birds ( ... )

I read that exact same post, and it was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back, you know? I felt so bad for that little guy :C You're freaking awesome, and that was insanely great judgment on your part to take that little finch in :D I had to take a couple little cardinals that I found under my deck in a few weeks ago, and DAMN they were adorable!

I had a feeling you might've read that post... :p

AHH cardinals!!! Socuuute. I have a girl on my flist who has her rehab license in Arizona (and a camel, haha!) and she does a lot of pigeons and hawks, and posts pictures! She's really neat.

She has a camel?! That is insanely cool D: I bet the camel really digs it down in Arizona too. It's like home, but with cacti! That person sounds awesome :D

Reminds me that time how I was running away from the little adorable fawn because I was afraid its ma would abandon it if she smelled my scent on her baby :C I don't know why it tried to follow me that much.

But yeah I totally understand your rage.

Unrelated, but I know you like Pokemon and I adore your fan art. There's a Pokemon event at Toys'R'Us today for Darkrai on Diamond and Pearl. It's from noon to 4 if your local Toys'R'Us is participating. And my apologies if this event is inaccessible to you. The news on it seemed pretty scarce. It's today and tomorrow.
