A Few Questions

Hello, I’m new to this community (and live journal)  and have a few questions about enrolling into Le Cordon Bleu or any other culinary schools.

Do you need any formal training before enrolling into a culinary school?
Can you enter into a culinary school straight out of high school or do you need any college credits first?

Some schools require that you have a certain amount of experience in the industry, such as the CIA. In my opinion, that is a good sign that perhaps the school cares about whether it has dedicated students. Le cordon bleu did not have such a requirement when I went, and still doesn't as far as I know. Still, it is always a good idea to work in a restaurant before going to school. That is a lot of money to be spending on something you are not sure about. And even if you think you are sure, if you have never experienced the atmosphere you cannot really know whether it is for you or not.

Eh, I didn't really do my homework until after I got there. If I had done the proper research I most likely would have gone to the CIA or J+W just because they offered courses that I would like to have studied more in depth. Regardless, I graduated from PCI and am doing quite well if I say so myself. There's a lot of great chefs, I wish I could have stayed longer with a few of them. I had Chef Price for two cycles (Skills and Intro to Pastries), she's amazing ( ... )

I'm actually interested in the P&B program too. So when I'm done, they're not gonna help me find a job? D:

I guess that's life, though. What did you do?
