The Audition
1. Name: Mandy
2. Age (no one under 13, please): Seventeen
3. Location: Michigan
4. Three positive adjectives to describe yourself: Passionate,
romantic, determined.
5. Three negative adjectives to describe yourself: Stubborn,
sensitive, dreamy.
6. What is the significance/meaning/derivation of your
username?: Lady. My definition of the word lady is not the stuffy, old women
whom you would think of, but a young woman who is simple, generous,
thoughtful, kind, graceful, and grateful for what she has. The last half of
my username, lily, comes from one of my favourite flowers, and is
inspired by one of my heroes - my best friend.
7. What is your favourite historical era, and why? The Victorian
Era. Late 1800s especially. The fashion, the literature (gothic
romances have always been my favourite), the beautiful classical music. Of
course, when I did my report on Edgar Degas, I fell in love with his art,
and Impressionism.
8. What historical, mythological, or legendary character do you most
identify with, and why? Miss Elizabeth Bennet, legendary heroine of
Jane Austen's novel, Pride and Prejudice. I have always
connected with Lizzy on several levels. We are both witty, stubborn,
rebellious, loyal, and passionate. I also identify with her relationship with Mr.
Darcy. They were around each other for a while before they realized and
admitted their feelings for each other.
9. Favourite three books (exclude any based on musicals or that
musicals are based on): Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen,
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas, and Wuthering
Heights by Emily Bronte.
10. Favourite three movies (exclude any based on musicals or that
musicals are based on): The Nutcracker, Pride and Prejudice, and
Pearl Harbor.
11. Do you have any creative talents?: I have a passion for
being on stage, performing. I am a lyrical-coloratura soprano. I danced,
ballet to be specific, until around five months ago, when I found out
about a knee injury (I plan to return as soon as my doctors okay it). I
have played the piano since third grade. I also love to write stories.
12. Sing us a song (that isn't from a Broadway musical): I chose
this song because I have been rehearsing to sing this song with my duet
partner, Ryan, next Sunday.
