Chess, anyone?

I just signed up for Hadley's chess courses. I think you get a free accessible chess set (and I think you get to keep it, though I could be wrong about that). I also just ordered a chess set from Independent Living Aids, which has a wooden one (the site doesn't say it's wooden, but it is--I checked) on sale. So, either way, I will have a chess set ( Read more... )

yay chess! I love chess! there is a chess program that works well with jfw called winboard. Also if you use a mac, there is a chess game that works with VO. That course sounds great!

I never learned how to play, although learning about this Hadley course is intriguing to me. Maybe its time I learned, although I doubt I have the patience for the game itself.

Well, I'm still waiting on my stuff from Hadley. But I got the other game I ordered. I also downloaded an accessible chess game called KChess, and I've been playing the computer (it's set to "novice" right now). I tried the ocmputer game before I got the chess board and had problems. But now, I can play the computer and replicate all the moves on my board. It's kind of fun. So if you have the chance, I recommend giving it a try. :)

I looked at the detailed descriptions and went, I nee to review that for the Bar. :) I don't plan on using their material for that review, though. They look like they cover stuff from about all the first-year courses except Con Law. I will be interested to see how "Chess for Beginners" goes.
