[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Kei (Leafe Knight of Light)
Age: His physical age is 16, but technically his memories reach much further back.
Gender: Male
Fandom: Pretear (manga)
Timeline: After the events of the manga (end of volume 4)
History:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretear#Manga in here explains the plot of the anime, but also points out the differences between the anime and the manga plot.
History side notes: Canonically speaking, the Leafe knights are reborn over and over; when the previous incarnation of a knight loses too much Leafe (the life-energy, sort of like chi), he dies and is reborn. (The Pretear also uses Leafe as an energy source.) In some cases, if a knight is drained of his Leafe in battle, he will lose his memories and it will be some time before they are reborn again.
The 7 Leafe Knights remain the same throughout time (though they will lose their memories, etc.), but the Pretear is always a different girl. The Pretear appears when the Princess of Darkness appears in the world; all of the Pretears (who serve as opposites to the Princess of Darkness) are at risk of becoming the next Princess of Darkness.
The series opens on a Pretear who is a little bit different; due to several events involving the Princess of Darkness and the Leafe knights opposing her, 3 of the knights gave up their lives in order to seal her. They died, only being reborn years later (they are therefore much younger than the other 4 knights), without all their memories intact.
Kei was one of those 4 knights who did not lose his memories of past events.
Character Personality: Kei is the Leafe knight of the light. Ironically, out of all the characters in the manga, he is one of the least “heroic.” He is very matter-of-fact and practical, and is the secret mastermind behind the Leafe knights, controlling things from the background. He plans their positioning and battle doctrine, calling the shots, but compared to the more dominant and flashy personalities, is a bit overlooked.
In terms of personality, he is very Type A. He is arrogant and just a bit cocky (he looks good and he knows he looks good). Everything needs to be done absolutely perfectly. However, he never really accepts praise for his actions (in either of his jobs); he seems to feel that exceeding expectations is the norm.
He is also quite a schemer; he plotted an attempt to make Himeko (the current Pretear) and Hayate (one of the knights) make peace with each other by urging Sasame (another of the knights) to pretend to be sick (he actually was sick, but Kei didn’t know that at the time) so that the other two could speak alone. He also sets up the trap for the Princess of Darkness by using Himeko to lure her out (taking a risk, because the previous Pretear had been put in a dangerous situation and ended up becoming the Princess of Darkness).
While Kei makes all of these plans - mainly good intentioned - they don’t always turn out the way he wants them to. For example, in the first instance, his plan to patch things up between the two actually caused the situation to get worse.
He also has a tendency to mumble to himself. When he is angered he blurts out whatever he is thinking in a blunt manner, without stopping to consider his words. This very often makes the situation quite awkward. He is also a curious person, and quite willing to “stalk” someone in order to find out what is going on.
In spite of his scheming and dangerously practical nature (he looks for results, a very end-justifies-the-means kind of person), he is not at all afraid of putting his own life on the line in order to protect others - even though sometimes he is the one putting them in danger in the first place! He knows that he is the leader (unofficially) and therefore feels responsibility for everyone else. He tries to put on a façade of being ruthless and unfeeling, but in actuality, he thinks everything through very carefully. He cares about the others, even when he is manipulating them.
Overall, he is quite an honest person, to the point of tactlessness. The way he comments on things doesn’t always make the other person angry (though that does happen), but it definitely is a bit off-putting, since he doesn’t stop to think about how it sounds. For example, during Himeko’s first battle, the girl asks why the monster kept attacking only her, to which Kei immediately explained that for the monster Himeko was like a giant buffet, which did not help Himeko’s nerves at all.
Character Abilities: The Leafe knights have power over their element, and in Kei’s case, the Leafe of light, he additionally also has the power over the small particles that create light, as in photons - thus why he has power over computers and internet, since photon movement is the key of information transfer in both.
And so, as the Leafe knight of light, Kei is very good with technology and software (he designs websites, etc. as his part time job). He can illuminate the darkness with his leafe and he can track people down using his leafe, which I assume it works by tracking down the body energy (which also works by photons/energy transfer), he feels the body energy of the person he is looking for and follows it.
When united with the Pretear, he becomes her armour and the weapon that comes out is the sceptre of light, which has the power to make darkness disappear from the heart of someone possessed by it.
Other than that, he is quite smart, really smart. As explained in the personality section, he is the mastermind of the Leafe knights.
Character Weaknesses: His weakness is that he often miscalculates people’s feelings, when angry he tends to be too honest and not think things through, which causes him a lot of trouble (since he usually says exactly the wrong thing to say at the time). While he makes ruthless plans that put other people’s lives on the line, he actually has less regard for his own; when putting other people in danger, his automatic corollary is that his own is on the line to protect them.
He also possesses the same physical weakness as the other knights, which is, if he uses too much of his leafe (or the pretear uses too much of his leaf) he gets weak and depending if he still has a small portion of leafe left or is completely drained of it, he can either be forced to rebirth (maintaining his memories) or die (he rebirths afterwards, since there must be always a leafe knight for each element, but in this case, he loses the memories of his previous life).
What are the abilities that your character will retain in Soul Campaign? He will still be good with computers and web design (easily adaptable to the in-game network), and he will still be intelligent.
What are the weaknesses that your character will lose or gain in Soul Campaign? He won’t lose any weaknesses (technically). He will actually gain some since most of his powers will be gone, so he will be as weak as a normal human would be without a partner.
Keeping the game’s premise in mind, please give us a brief explanation of your plans for your character in Soul Campaign.
The Pretear manga is about a never-ending battle between darkness and light (well…what magical girl manga isn’t?). In that light, I think Kei would fit well in this war-background, allowing him a chance to consider the situation, to plot and strategize, as well as interacting with a lot of people.
[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]
Why your character should be a Weapon: In his canon, he is used to being used as both a weapon and a partner (even though his personality seems a little more dominant). He adjusts well to others, and would make a good weapon for the right partner.
What is your character's Weapon form?: His weapon form will be the sceptre of light that is his weapon form in canon. The sceptre is golden, 1.60 meters tall and 10 centimeters in diameter. The upper edge of the sceptre is shaped like a small crow; when resonating, this crow will glow slightly. (image in his profile)
Weapon abilities:
Minimum resonance: dazzling light - the light that forms from the upper edge of the sceptre will start to shine brightly, enough to temporarily blind all enemies within an area of 8 meters. (sunglasses are highly recommended)
Medium resonance: light barrier - a light barrier is formed around the meister for 4 minutes, which can be expanded to up to 2 or 4 meters in radius. It doesn’t move with the meister and it’s can withstand both physical and magical attacks, but only “just physical” or “just magical” at each battle. It will sync itself (regarding if it will defend against a physical or magical) to the first attack that it defends.
It can be cast three times during battle, but each casting of the attack will lower resonance which will need to be strengthened again before the ability can be used again.
This barrier should protect the meister, but if the barrier is attacked very intensely (as in, the opponent doesn’t stop hitting the barrier), the time of usage diminishes to half.
High resonance: Light beams - the crown will shoot a series of small light beams into the opponents, injuring them to a level equivalent to being hit by small knives. The beam can be used a maximum of 6 times per battle.
[ SOUL INFORMATION ]
Soul Description: intelligent, responsible, smartass, cocky, honest, manipulative.
Soul Appearance: He looks like a shiny yellow ball with a tail in one of the sides. The ball has two white eyes on it which also shine, so it’s hard to see them.

First Person: [Text]
Greetings, people of this city.
My name is Kei and I have just been filled in regarding the current situation. I am interested in joining the fight and helping however I can. (So that I can go back home as soon as possible.)
In pursuit of this goal, I invite all current meisters without a partner and willing to fight to reply to this post.
I’ll conduct this selection in two phases. First, I’ll interview all the interested meisters, in order to get to know all the candidates better, selecting the ones for the second stage based on the results from this process.
During the second stage, I would like to conduct personal interviews, and if all goes well, attempt our compatibility. This way we can effectively see if it’s possible to fight together or not, saving precious time to everyone.
I would also like to take the chance to invite the weapons with experience to also comment on this post, since I would like to gather information about the actual practice of resonance, types of weapons there are, different methods of transformation and other similar topics.
If possible, I would also like to get information about the current battle strategies applied up until now.
And that’s all. Please respond promptly.
Best regards
Kei.
Third Person: Kei blinks, waking up in a very different place than he had fallen asleep in.
It’s completely pitch black around him, so he calls the light to him on instinct.
Except that nothing changes.
Again, he calls it, trying to feel the photons, the essence of Leafe around him.
But there was nothing. He couldn’t feel, the sense that had always accompany him through all his many rebirths was...gone.
This disturbs him quite greatly, but it does not show it on his face, even though no one is around to see it. Already, his brain is trying to analyze, to gather information, forcing him to relax so that he can use his other senses to learn as much as he can about his surroundings.
He wasn’t in Leafeania, or even in the human world, since if he had been, there was no way his powers would be gone.
So the only explanation was that he was somewhere else.
He waits in the darkness patiently, knowing that if someone had brought him here, that person sooner or later show up. And when he did, he would have to answer Kei’s questions.
