I just completed what was, for me, a very liberating experience. As some of you may recall, I was a finalist for several national scholarships ranging from the Rhodes to the Mellon Fellowship for the Humanities. yum...copyediting. :) I have a feeling i'll be doing something very similar for the next year.

Isn't it kind of refreshing to delete those mails? I kinda felt completely fresh after my computer crashed along with all of the old emails i'd receieved from Brant and others. :) happiness.

Yeah, people who praise Witt for his clarity and precision delude themselves. I had the exact same thought when I picked up his tractatus. In German, it goes:

1 Die Welt is alles, was der Fall ist. "The world is everything that is the case."

1.1 Die Welt is die Gesamtheit der Tatsachen, nicht der Dinge. "The world is the totality of facts, not of things."

Everything that is the case? Facts? Thanks a lot Wittgenstein.
