Changes by way of explanation

Apr 24, 2005 21:50

So over the past year I've found that I've changed a lot. This is inevitable as we are all constantly shedding our skins and growing them anew, but this time I feel it more than most. I nearly proposed to a woman out of love and subsequently lost that love; became disillusioned with philosophy only to discover what it really means to me; made one ( Read more... )

The knee jerk reaction I had to your post was one of unrest at your becoming an adult. When I realized what you meant, it wasn't as bad.

I was really inspired by this line of yours in your new profile:
"The problem being that somewhere in between the inspiration and the expiration of thought most of it is lost in feelings that only I experience while I read the words."
You certainly have changed significantly since you started this journal, and I actually think your new profile does a pretty good job at reflecting those changes, while keeping open to the effects of more changes.

I continue to be amazed at the person you are/have become and hope to be able to see you soon!

That may have been hyperbole. Of course, you know that I have an odd conception of adulthood to begin with.

I'm glad you liked that line, I did a lot as well. I'm more unsure of the one that preceeds it.

I continue to be amazed at the person you are/have become and hope to be able to see you soon!

Ha! Though I am flattered, I hardly findmyself to be all that impressive of an individual. Just another fucked up person among countless others looking for some solace. Of course, I suppose knowing that is half the battle. If you end up in RI this summer let me know, I'll probably get to go home for a bit in July.

Well...if i know you're going back in July, maybe we should arrange something. I'll have to see what sort of vacation time I get at Penguin and see if I can start using it (perhaps even in July!! :-o ), if not - a weekend with a camera and a leafofgrass is definately in order. Even if I am tied to some sort of blackberry or other odd sort of device (it is sales after all), it'd still be great to see you. In fact, since I live much closer to RI than you, why don't you let me know when you're going to RI and we can plan something?

The thing, in my mind, that makes you so impressive is your consistancy. The first sentence in your reply to me I think of as evidence of that.

thinking about lj entries i'm thinking

reflecting on lj entries i'm reflecting

writing on lj -- my own entries or comments on other people's entries -- not so much...

working too much

shooting photographs all the time -- posting them on my lj & fotolog [when its working] & flickr all the time as well as leaving comments on other people's photo posts [been thinking about why its so much easier for me to respond verbally to visual posts]

promise to really write something in response to you soon
