I won't get into the specifics of your comments on the education piece, but I've been closely reading this whole series, and have a few observations.

First, it's lovely that the Times (and the WSJ) have realized, in 2005, that class exists in America.

Second, it's unfortunate that they both have one of the most shallow understandings of the nature of class that I've ever seen. Hey, paper of record, class is about a lot more than money, ok?! These articles haven't even tried to shed their consumer-outlook and examine actual issues of power.

Third, I love the fact that they've forgotten about organized labor. No wonder they're dumbfounded about what happened to pensions...

Damn those neoliberal newspapers.
