[Mission: Totally Possible - Damages]

Leah slowly opened her eyes to see sunlight filtering through the window in front of her. She sighed, wishing with every fiber of her being that this was some nightmare she could wake up from and just shake off; that she hadn't crash landed a hugely expensive shuttle on an unknown planet. But this was very definitely reality.

She looked around to see that Tina and Christine were both still asleep just as Nyota started to stir in the co-pilot's seat.

"Good morning," she said with a unhappy sort of smile.

"Good morning. So how's your arm?" Leah asked.

"Still hurts, but it's a little better," Nyota answered.

Leah shifted in her seat and pushed aside the banket she'd gotten from Christine. She always had been the type who didn't need much time to fully wake up, and she wanted to get going on whatever needed to be dealt with ASAP. "Now what? Is there anything I can help with?" she asked after a short time.

"We really need to do damage assessment and see what the situation is," Nyota said.

"I'll go," Leah told her. She knew it was likely to be pretty bad and didn't particularly want to know just how bad, but it would give her something to do.

She left the shuttle a couple of minutes later and saw that they had landed in what appeared to be a very large wooded area. The temperature was slightly cool, like early fall back on Earth, and there was a slight fog in the air.

Leah's mouth dropped open slightly when she saw the position the Columbus had landed in. The front part of the shuttle was less than six feet from an enoromous tree. If they had come in any faster, the shuttle wouldn't have stopped in time to avoid crashing into the trunk, and everyone onboard almost certainly would have died.

She didn't want to consider that particular thought at the moment, and focused her attention on the task at hand.

She walked so she was facing the front of the shuttle, and saw a few dents, likely tree damage, on the left side.

Leaves crunched under Leah's feet as she started to move around the perimiter of the shuttle and note the rest of the damage.

The hull had scrapes running across it from the rough landing and phaser scorch marks in a blast pattern starting at 8 inches from the door down to the nacelle.

The nacelle still smouldered hours after the attack, sending up an almost imperceptable trail of smoke and heat into the morning fog.

At the top of the nacelle, pieces of the shielding protected that protected the engine had broken off and fallen nearby and a large crack ran through the rest of the shielding.

The Orions had wreaked havoc on the left side of the Columbus. There was no way it was going to be spaceworthy without significant repairs.

And right now, it looked like the chances of that happening anytime soon were nil.

Leah resisted the nearly overwhelming urge to just give up and continued walking.

The right side seemed to have escaped any substantial damage with just a few scapes.

"So, exactly how bad is it?" Nyota questioned quickly as Leah entered the shuttle. Christine and Tina were now awake.

"The left side got the worst of it. I really think you should come and see for yourselves."

The three other women followed her out, looking at each other and at Leah with disbelief as the took in the scene.

Christine let out an audible gasp.

"Oh, my god..." Tina breathed.

"I'd say we're pretty damn lucky to still be alive," Nyota said after a moment.

"Yeah, we are," Leah agreed. They were lucky they hadn't hit the tree; lucky the power had gone off before the damaged nacelle blew up the shuttle, and they all knew it.

"What's the plan now?" Christine asked. Her eyes seemed involuntarily fixed on the smashed nacelle.

Nyota spoke again. "Do a scan to see if this planet might be inhabited and figure out our location."

By some unspoken mutual concensus of not wanting to stay outside looking at the wreckage any longer, the four women started for the inside of the shuttle.

Leah slid into her seat, immediately started up the backup power again, and initiated the sensor scan.

Nyota returned to the co-pilot's seat, but both Christine and Tina stood behind Leah's seat watching the readings as best they could.

"I think we might have something here," Leah said suddenly.

"Is that right? Buildings?" Tina asked.
