Anyhow, Letters to Santa was great. I stayed the entire time, saw some friends from the VC era, and had great fun. My favorite moment was a throwaway skit about 90% into the 24 hours:

i miss reckless records. my music tastes are so divergent from yours that any recommendations i can make for spending your reckless gift certificate would hold no weight...but shopping there is fun, and winning a gift certificate there has to be one of the most awesome things ever.

The National - You can hardly go wrong with them. Boxer is probably my favorite album of the year. And I still can't decide if I like it more than Alligator (the most rocking of their albums) or Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers.
Heavenly was Amelia Fletcher's band post-Talulah Gosh and pre-Marine Research and Sportique. They were British and released several albums on Sarah. The Decline and Fall of Heavenly is my favorite but it is very short (~25 minutes.) Incomparably good, though. Bright, fast and so poppy. [Also please note that there is a bad heavy metal band named Heavenly too. You can tell them apart by the fact that the twee Heavenly has the name "Heavenly" in all of their album titles. Also by listening.]
Tullycraft at this point seems little more than a local-Seattle band but I don't understand why. Such great tunes. Happy, jangly pop. Beat Surf Fun is so wonderful. If you want a bigger sound move forward to Disenchanted Hearts Unite, if more intimate ( ... )
