*spewing vitriol*

I know I've been particularly ranty in the past few days, especially about art... that having been said, here's some more! 8D ( Read more... )

Hmm, they must have meant the bit of wall/table/whatever it is around the edges of the painting. I guess the only way to appease the mods is to make the edges absolutely perfect! on every single picture. Seems a little picky to me (especially on photographs) but I guess you've got to draw your line and stick by it, or something. Sad to hear another artist's been driven away from the 'Wood, but I guess as long as you have your website I'll get over it ^_~

I didn't crop the edges further simply because I didn't want to cut out any of those damn daisies, lol. It's difficult (at least for me) to make digital photos of pictures perfect because the canvases tend to be leaning at an angle, not straight on... bah! This isn't one of my favorite pieces anyway, so I'm not too terribly upset. :P

EW's just alienating more and more people. I used to defend it at the word go when people would whine deviantArt was better, but now I can't be bothered, because I feel like EW's simply the lesser of two evils.

It's too big. There aren't enough staff. The ERB have an official size of 3 (semi-active) members. Even the mods I know are pissed off with the whole process. EW needs to do some serious overhaul time if it's going to carry on living. I haven't updated in months and months and months and I don't even feel a compulsion to, which is extremely sad. EW was the sole reason my art hobby flourished as well as it did, beyond the "lookit what I drew!" level of my adolescence, but it seems to be in decline.

At least you have your site, Leah ^^ you can display your work as and when you like and according to your own rules. Essentially, the base of my post is this - don't worry, you're not alone in your irritation at EW.

Yeah, but I still don't think Deviantart is better... it used to be that Elfwood was the clear winner in taking down art thieves and actually acting upon complaints, but with that nonsense with the ERB, I'm not so sure now. I bet that person you pointed out in your blog a while back still has that copied picture up. :/ Elfwood will always be the site I started on, and compelled me to keep drawing and improving. I'm just a bit frustrated with it at the moment. :P

And yes, at least I can display my pictures on my site however I like, even if their "item quality is not acceptable." ;)

I have been irritated with Elfwood as well. For probably six months, I have been thinking of just pulling everything off there and leave. I don't feel like anyone will miss my site when it's not updated often enough.

By then, I will need to belt down and set up a website for my stuff...quitting elfwood probably will motivate me. XD

Keep your own website rolling!

As long as you don't take your pictures off the net completely, I can't complain. ^-^

wow...I just don't understand =/
I just put in a few pictures for an update and now I'm worried they'll be rejected out of the over the top pickiness of EW.

It's a shame Leah, but I'll continue to follow you're site, and there's always art_sprogs if you want direct feed back on your work =)

Thanks Jen -- it's nice to know art_sprogs isn't going anywhere, I look forward to seeing new ninjaz art all the time. :)

And now we know why Tisha hasn't updated in ages. Then again, I haven't drawn anything in ages. :P Sounds like EW is being very selective, apparently. They're being stupid, in my opinion, and losing some valuable artist in the process.

I think I just got bored/frustrated with Elfwood, somewhere down the line. I may eventually post some new art elsewhere, especially since I have an idea that's been stewing for awhile, and I just got a couple new sketch books.

I'll be emailing you soon, I forgot I was supposed to send you those links. ^^; And we'll need to discuss what you want for your pictures (yes, I'm still doing all three, don't try to talk me out of it), so I know what to do research for and stuff.
