Bye Elfwood

May 06, 2007 16:48

Welp, I baleeted my elfwood galleries (oh wait, I just remembered I forgot my ancient Wyvern's... well, maybe I'll leave that one up, lol) and contacted my service provider to take down my website. I wasn't really updating either and I haven't even gotten retarded anonymous comments on the elfwood galleries in several months. Elfwood's dying. :P ( Read more... )

Aw =( I still used to browse through your Elfwood gallery sometimes, your stuff was pretty inspirational...

I haven't updated my Elfwood in around two years and all the stuff up there is hopelessly out of date, but I keep it up anyway. I owe Elfwood alot, even though it's died a death.

Aw, I didn't think anyone actually still went there! Thanks Snuffles. :) I saved all my old work to my hard drive. I think once a year I'll unveil one or two truly awful old pieces. It's good for the ego. ;)

I do admit that I have a lot of good memories and friendships because of Elfwood, which I mentioned in my reasons for leaving (they have a little box to fill out). I miss the old Elfwood. What it is now is different, and frustrating, to me at least.

It's also much easier to "network" on places like DA. I like being able to keep track of hundreds of artists without having to bookmark them all or link them on my page. :)

Yeah I've been meaning to delete mine too, though I have to say I'm a little sad you won't be keeping your website. How's commissions going?

Well, I mostly got the website for business purposes. It ended up being far easier to use other art sites for the same reason -- I have gotten all (ALL) my commissions either directly through other art sites or auctioned commissions. No one who has commissioned me did it because of the website. :P Plus I realized how ugly my brown rose wallpaper design was. XD PLUS there's always the laziness factor. Some people enjoy webdesign but it's just not fun to me. In a year or two I may end up getting another website, but for now, I'm happy using free art communities like DA.

My commissions are going alright. Steady. I always have something to keep me busy at least. :)

How about yourself? I haven't seen much art from you (unless it's just because I've fallen behind in my DA submissions). You moved back home for the summer, right? I was just thinking this morning that I haven't heard anything about Jen in a while, I hope you're alright. *hugs*

Eh school took up pretty much all of my time and the stuff I did for class wasn't usually the kind of stuff people would want to see, so it's been slow art wise for me. But now that I'm home for the summer I'm hoping (key word being hope lol) that I'll have a few projects going soon, and more minor things to post =)

Glad to hear that business is good, I keep an eye on your DA page pretty frequently, even if I've been lapse on my commenting ;D

That's good to hear, I do miss seeing Jen art. :)

I always feel bad uploading so much furry junk to my DA. I know you and a few others from our art crowd watch it and probably prefer my old human art, but unfortunately furry is all I get commissioned to do now, and I don't have much time for my own work. Ooooh well. :P

I was just thinking about deleting mine yesterday. I have hardly any comments, though I have some really nice ones...it makes me not want to take it down, but at the same time it sucks for people who comment and ask questions and I never answer them. XD;; Elfwood really is going, especially when you can do a search for a popular anime character and get zero results. o_O It shocked me.

And what's the deal with you spending lots of time on the internet and never updating?! XP

I actually saved every single one of my comment emails in a folder, lol. I've made sure to answer all the people who've asked me direct questions or those who were particularly nice/coherent, but all the other questions are so... ugggh. XD

That's bizarre about not finding the anime character. o_o It may be that it does exist on Elfwood but their search is buggered or falling behind on new submmissions; I wouldn't be a bit surprised.

I have no idea, lol. I spend way more time commenting on others' LJ's than I do making my own entries.

Dying? It's already dead DX My frustration with EW lately knows no bounds. The site has so many problems, not least of all the non-existent ERB, and is far too big for its own good. I've been considered jacking in my galleries there myself; either that, or reducing them to just a few decent pieces as a lame placeholder gallery pointing toward my deviantArt page.

Maybe the placeholder option would be ideal. I still remember when you found that stolen Hyung-tae Kim (sp? I can never spell his name) image and god knows if the ERB actually did anything about it. o_O

Yay for 21! Gonna head south the celebrate?

Well when it gets overcast and the temp drops and the winds rise, like they did late last weekend, there's still room for anything to happen. Its crazy how fast the temps can shift though. This weekend was really nice and with it I went out and got a few needed errands done. Yay groceries! :D

Its funny. My artist friend AirGuiTar just said in her own journal that she feels that she should be spending more time on the Internet, and be less anti-social. :)

Take easy.

Head south to Vegas, you mean? If only! Someday I'd like to go but lacking a car or the money for a plane ticket tends to limit one's travel. ;)

I need to go out and get some errands done myself, and get some vitamin D -- I've been spending too much time indoors. Hopefully our weather will stay the way it is now: warm but with a nice breeze.

My problem is that I tend to spend too much time lurking and looking at art, and not enough time actually interacting. I'm a bit of a hermit, lol.

Thanks Coyote, hope you're getting moved in okay. :)

Well south of the border at least.

I mostly use the Net for research and chat. I stopped looking at art and lurking in communities a long time ago. I've been trying to make time to do other things, such as read a book or watch TV, and time for people. I know I spend a lot of time indoors, and being very light sensative has a lot to do with whether I want to be out or not.

The movein has gone well. There's still some things we need for the place, but they will come. We've having a friend of mine from back east moving out here in 2 days so that should add some extra fun an excitement around the house. :)
