We picked up a Canadian hitchhiker on our way to Auckland. He was from Peterborough and looked and sounded almost exactly like my cousin Brent!

We took more than a few wrong turn off the boat and after driving around tryng to find a hostel that was still open we checked into Base Backpackers. I got in and spent the first few days in Chirstchurch researching about my honours thesis while I waited for the others to arrive. I took in a lot of the city. many art galleries, parks shops etc. the second day there I got in touch with Trish a Kiwi lady I had met in Cairns and she offered to have me stay at her place for a couple days. Meg not me, I packed (at least started) a week ago. So yeah this will be a hard good bye but we'll see eachother again in New Zealand, and in Syracuse or Baltimore and in Canada perhaps.
