House Plants

I'm branching out into a new direction: House Plants.  Did you know that one plant in one room can noticeably reduce the pollution in that room?  I like plants in rooms though, and I much prefer real plants to fake.  Also, I want a few real plants in my library (not too many though cause they'd all have to be moved over the summer).  I have a book ( Read more... )

I wish I could help you on the plant thing, but I (in spite of my username) have a brown thumb. I just bought 3 gorgeous, well-established ivy plants at another missionary's moving sale, and I feel this sense of tragedy about them because I know that now that they're in my possession, they're not long for this world. I also own a cyclamen and geranium, whose leaves came through the summer thoroughly fly-eaten. Apparently, houseflies eat geranium leaves.

I have learned that it's best to keep plants in the same place if possible, because they "get used to" the light there, or something. Also, don't under- or over-water. But I have yet to figure out how often watering is optimal. I never quite get it right.
