Leon: *pulls out a bottle of scotch and two glasses* Any minute now.
Luc: *quietly opens the door, and enters the room* I believe you were expecting me. *pulls
out a chair at the table, and sits down*
Leon: I am. *sets the bottle and glasses at the table, and sits next to Luc* Care for a
drink?
Luc: *narrows eyes* I'll pass. Now, may I ask what it is you wanted?
Leon: *Pours himself a glass of scotch* I'd like to hear about those visions you had.
Luc: And what would I have to gain from that?
Leon: My expertise and insight into figuring out what may be the reason we are here.
*Takes a drink*
Luc: My visions have nothing to do with our... predicament. I do not appreciate being
misled.
Leon: On the contrary, I think your little stunt seven years ago might have something to
do with people being displaced here. Whatever let you to perform it may have some bearing
on our current situation.
Luc: I do not share what you 'think', but if I cannot convince you otherwise, then I shall
humor you. My visions were of a future dominated by order and stagnation. Everything from
Brass Castle to the former Karayan Village were lifeless and barren, save for spherical
creatures.
Leon: Describe these spherical creatures.
Luc: My visions were entirely devoid of color, so I cannot describe that. However, they
were perfectly round, with indentations along the sides, in a form of runic design. They
had only one eye, which itself was perfectly round, and never blinked. They were hostile;
they fired a single red beam of energy from their iris.
Leon: Hm. How would you know if they fired a red beam if your visions had no color to
them?
Luc: Those beams were the only part of my visions with color. Even my own body was
colorless.
Leon: I assume they hovered across the ground. Could you identify the runes on their
sides?
Luc: Yes, they floated about a meter and a half off of the ground. *pauses, as if trying
to remember* I believe the runes on their side shared many similarities with the designs
found on many Sindar Ruins. Though, if I recall correctly, they shared a similarity with
designs also seen in Harmonian temples.
Leon: Have you managed to kill one of these?
Luc: *shakes head* I observed from afar. However, when I brought Hugo into my visions in
an attempt to explain my position, he killed no less than six of them. Curiously enough,
his True Fire magic had color to it, as well.
Leon: Did you manage to see their internal organs, if they have any?
Luc: They were not creatures of flesh and blood. I believe they were magical constructs.
Leon: I am certainly leaning to a Sindarian origin for those creatures. *takes another
drink* Were they the cause of the barrenness of the world?
Luc: I do not believe so. I find it impossible that these creatures could not only wipe
out all life but reduce it to dominated by Order. No... I think they were there as a form
of overseer-like objective. Over what, though, I am clueless.
Leon: If it was a perfect Order, then why leave overseers?
Luc: That much is unclear. However, it could have not been the will of the creatures, but
that of their creator.
Leon: Perhaps it is not a world of Order, but a prison world, made to keep something in?
Luc: *raises an eyebrow* I must admit, that has not occurred to me. But what would have
the power to create a perfect replica of our world?
Leon: Perhaps it is not so much creating a perfect replica, as finding a perfect replica.
With one difference - completely lifeless. The question is what can remove all life from a
world?
Luc: *lowers eyes to the table* Even the most powerful of True Runes cannot destroy all
life on a world while leaving everything else intact.
Leon: *takes one more drink* Come now, Luc, you know better than that. There is one.
Luc: If you are referring to the Circle Rune, there are no records left in the world as to
what it does. Even I have not seen it used, save for when my brother and I were first
created.
Leon: *sighs in disappointment* I was not. I was referring to the True Rune of Life and
Death. Soul Eater.
Luc: Your history with the Soul Eater is not unfamiliar to me, Leon. But that does not
satisfy the other factors of my visions.
Leon: Such as?
Luc: The fact that my visions were dominated by Order, the lack of color, or the spherical
creatures.
Luc: Allow me to elaborate. While the Soul Eater can indeed wipe out all life on a planet,
it cannot create magical constructs. It also has no affiliation with Order. The theory I
reached is that this was done by a union with other True Runes - I believe that this world
was purified, and then brought into Order by the Circle Rune. Perhaps the future I saw was
a post-apocalyptic world following the goal my father has been after for centuries.
Leon: Or a future that, deep down, you wanted to see. True Runes can react to their
bearers. *Pulls out a cigar*
Luc: *narrows eyes again* Do you have a better explanation?
Leon: It is possible that your visions are refractions of all of your feelings on
Hikusaak, who you only see as some distant, malevolent force that seeks to impose his
twisted view of Order on the entire world through the 27 True Runes.
Luc: I believe his actions in the past have reflected this, as well.
Leon: And you seek to prevent one of those visions to come to pass?
Luc: *thinks for a moment* I felt that if I were to destroy my True Wind Rune, the True
Runes would never be gathered, rendering my visions impossible to come true. I failed. I
feel as if the only way I can prevent them from coming true now is to stand against
Harmonia.
Leon: *Lights his cigar* There's another way.
Luc: *look of disbelief* And that is...?
Leon: You change Harmonia. A ruler is tied to his nation. If a ruler changes, the nation
changes, and vice versa. Therefore, if Harmonia changes, Hikusaak changes with it, Circle
Rune or no.
Luc: I would agree with you were it not for Harmonia's nature. Harmonia is a theocracy,
that has been ruled by the same man for more than four centuries. They have stopped at
nothing to attempt gain True Runes throughout history. I find it... difficult to believe
that anything short of the death of Hikusaak will change Harmonia for the better.
Leon: Harmonia is also an aristocracy. If you can change - or remove - them, you can
effect change on Harmonia.
Luc: Then, do you believe the aristocracy is behind Harmonia's lust for the True Runes,
rather than Hikusaak?
Leon: Hikusaak has all the time in the world. The aristocracy does not.
Luc: Your words intrigue me. Hikusaak was the main reason why I was appointed a bishop,
though I suspect that he had an ulterior motive for doing so.
Leon: Perhaps he believed you would sabotage the war against the Grasslands, to check
against the growing influence of the aristocracy?
Luc: *thinks for a moment* ... are you saying that I was wrong about him?
Leon: There are many dimensions to someone as old as Hikusaak. Your view of him was
extremely narrow.
Luc: *closes eyes, thinks for a minute* ... I should speak with him.
Leon: Who?
Luc: My father. There are many questions left unanswered, and with Sarah's help, I can
speak with him quickly and safely.
Leon: Then I will leave you to it.
Luc: Thank you, Leon. Our talk has been... educational. *gets up, leaves*
Leon: Take care, Luc.
