I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, lighten up, world, it's a freakin' Firefly poster. This guy teaches theater & I'm sure a bunch of his college-age charges found this poster amusing.

OTOH, the university is an employer as well as a school, & in a reaction-based, fear-based news cycle society, I'd bet that most colleges are concerned about heading off the next Virginia Tech style disaster. I can totally see the thought process here. Holy crap this poster advocates killing! If someone shoots someone else on campus, we could be sued. (Ala the parents of that poor grad student who was murdered at Yale).

Where the school went wrong was taking down his poster without asking. There shoulda been some discussion, & this could have been a teaching moment for all. But that would have made sense. Much better to just react first.

Honestly, taking the first poster down is fine. Sadly that was not the end of things. They also took down the replacement.
