Also if you are interested in Icelandic textbooks or other books to own physically, I have some to sell.

Thanks, for that. I managed to get my hands on "Teach Yourself: Icelandic", although it seems to be badly structured. I don't have an awful lot of language learning experience(I was introduced to Irish from a very early age and just picked it up) but I'm wondering how is best to effectively learn it over the summer? And how proficient could I possibly become over the summer? Also, I'm used to declensions and cases from Irish, which might be a help if the Icelandic cases work in a similar way.

Yeah, unfortunately most of the textbooks that exist are structured TERRIBLY (and textbooks entirely in Icelandic are no exception) - I have no idea why. Maybe the people making them learnt Icelandic such a long time ago (or were native) that they can no longer tell what is easier or harder for a student to learn first. I have something like five or six different textbooks and workbooks I'm wanting to sell though, and a couple books and VHS tapes. I can take photos and samples of them over this weekend and post them to this community and you can see if you want them ( ... )

That would be great if you could put up the pictures. Icelandic resources are such a commodity. Perfect, I'll start there then. Also, do you know of anywhere online that I could find Icelanders to practice with? There's a distinct lack of Icelanders in Ireland. :P

Hey... my computer broke. I'm taking it to see if it can get fixed before the end of the week, but the other computer I have access too can't upload photos (REAAALLY slow). So I am not even online once a day right now.

I can write up the titles of everything for now, if you want, or I can wait until I can upload photos to go along with them.

This is a pretty good resource: http://tungumalatorg.is/ifa/
Yes, the books are in Icelandic only, but that's not really a problem.

I'm also teaching myself Icelandic and I am using several Apps on the apple store, one being UTalk . I have also found icelandiconline.is extremely helpful. I use google translate a LOT but I cross reference with other translation apps. As far as grammar, I find it confusing but there are some apps for that too. íslensk orðabók Being one. My Next step is ordering Colloquial Icelandic and there is an Icelandic group in the city I live in (Canada) where I'm hoping to find some one to tutor me.
