Alright, I'm all done with August now. We had Pennsic, and that was very nice, but the number of other things that have gone awry at work, at home, with computers, and with cars is far too high. (Though we're quite happy with the new Scion so far ( Read more... )

My sympathies. Cracked pipes are no fun at all.

Ugh. Clearly, it is time to declare August over, and enter the balmy but short lived month of Augtember. Ah, lovely Augtember. So short, but so not full of drama!

Augtember is the kindest month, so distant from the chill winds of Febrarch and the hard rains of Apray...

Also it has Labor Day in it. Good little month.

Ouch, my sympathies on the cracked pipe.
FWIW, the weather also seems to be done with August, and the leaves are starting to turn.

Grak.

By the way, what sort of Scion did you get? I love my xB a lot.

We got the 2010 xB - you have one too?

It seemed to be the best balance of carrying capacity and compactness. We glanced at an xD too, but it didn't really look big enough to put Pennsic in.

Mine is a 2008, but yes, I love the xB. It is actually easy to park, because it is so short in length (smaller than Libby's Prius in footprint, I think). But it has tons of room thanks to its height. We use it to haul a trailer to Pennsic, and it does that fine.

What we read said that they'd upgraded the engines a few years ago, so that while the fuel economy might not be quite as good as other small boxy cars, it wouldn't have any trouble pulling a fair amount of weight.

And, yes, coming from a typical station wagon the un-long-ness is great.

It's not a good time for pipes. We had a water main break two houses down last night. Not something that we have to fix, thank goodness.

Agreed, when we were getting our new fridge, the shut off for our refrigerator ice maker rusted off in the appliance installers hands. We had to shut off all water and get a plumber in, and reschedule the refrigerator delivery.

The pipes are conspiring against us.
