It is up to you if you delete your account or not, but I'd be sorry to see you go. People will always find things offensive, often irrationally - sadly that seems to be a part of life. I'd say ignore them, but I know how hard that is...
I've really enjoyed talking to you here and would miss that if you stop posting.
Hey, for goodness sake don't leave LJ on my account! You hadn't offended me at all - I'm far too old to be offended on line. I'm just sorry that I apparently offended you because you seem so upset by our little spat. Your response was the same as many others of my friends - that you could say nothing that would be of use, not because you didn't care. No one can respond to every tragedy in the world - we'd never stop posting if we did that!
I think I was just irritated by a lot of real life things and worded my comment badly.
So don't go! I think we need lots more people like you with a firm moral compass.
I haven't ever claimed to have any better moral compass that anyone else. I only have the stupidity to answer a question honestly when it's asked.I am probably too old myself to kick that habit now.
Oh, no! I don't know what's happened on LJ about Tunisia, nor what else has happened, but I would miss you if you left. We're not here - at least it's up to us in we want to - to comment on every single thing that happens in the world, and sometimes (often, actually) the things that have happened are wrong in such a way that commenting is superfluous. all I can say is, I'd miss your voice.
I hope you don't go, I like seeing your posts and chatting with you. As for what you post, well, my blog is about 80% fannish stuff - fics and art and memes, interspersed with waffling about my life... I don't think I've ever posted something about a tragedy, not because I don't care but because I don't see that it would help - unless I'm posting a link to a donation site or something maybe? But even then, I'm more likely to share it on tumblr where I know more people are likely to see it and pass it on. And if someone doesn't want to see my posts on their feed, well, there's plenty of ways to filter that.
There are thousands of reasons why someone might feel obligated to comment on one tragedy and not another, or hurt about the lack of general response to one but not another (I can pretty much guarantee on every tumblr post about a tragedy there will be at least one commenter outraged that something 'hasn't got more notice', regardless of how much it's actually got... I try to make a point of not reblogging those comments). But no-
( ... )
I always enjoy your comments here and I think you have a lot to contribute.
If anyone is attacking you for not posting sympathy then they are, themselves, being bullying, unpleasant and disrespectful. I find the current pressure to make conspicuous, public displays of sympathy very disturbing. If you want to express your sympathy do so; if you don't, don't. We all deal with things in different ways.
If anyone is trying to make you feel morally inferior to them because you didn't indulge yourself in public breast-beating then they have, in fact, proved exactly the opposite.

Thank you. To be fair, not just me but a lot of 300 other "friends" too, although I don't know if "friends" includes communities as well, so maybe not 300 individuals.
