'O Come all ye faithful' gave me pause, but then I thought I could imagine Peter doggedly and somewhat ironically keeping track of time (over his presumedlong sojourn on the desert island) not the easy way, but by something more intellectually challenging, i.e. the church calendar, including moveable feasts! (He would probably calculate the ides and calends, too.)
I had never heard 'Sweet Polly Oliver' before, and had never known why ColonelBogey was so called - and now I have, and now I do! :D
Good set of choices, although I think he'd have picked Bach's Concerto for two violins because of the concert he went to with Harriet. Or maybe it would be one of her choices.
We used to sing Sweet Polly Oliver at school and I could imagine a young Peter singing it at prep school.
Definitely Adeste Fideles. Again, a harking back to his school days and belting it out in chapel on the day before breaking up at the end of term.
Would he take his piano over a never ending supply of port? And how would he do without Bunter? I know he's a handy chap, but Bunter is generally there to help him out of a tight spot.
I believe they weren't allowed to take another living being as their luxury. Perhaps Lord Peter would just as himself "What would Bunter do?" and do that. Your choice of Bach is I think very much better, thank you! We sang it at school Sweet Polly Oliver at school too.I'm rather hoping other people will do some fictional desert island discs, I confess. I should have called it a meme I suppose!
No, taking another person is against the rules. Although I heard someone saying recently that a husband had asked to take his wife. She was then on in her own right and asked to take husband. Both were refused. I'm racking my brains to think who they were.
I absolutely think it should be a meme. I'm just thinking of who I could think of to pick for. I'm leaning towards West Wing characters, just because they're always in my brain. Jed Bartlet would definitely have "Happy days are here again".
