That's rather concerning, that Edwin and Karen weren't invited. :( It seems a very pointed exclusion?

Well it could well be that they weren't invited - Edwin could so easily insult Merricks senior or junior. Or they might have moved elsewhere and someone else is living in the cottage now. Or perhaps they were away, or couldn't get a baby sitter- but then sure they would simply impose on Ann to miss the party herself. Or perhaps they were there, but I just haven't mentioned them because they weren't on my original list!
