Ha ha, for the record: House of Wax wasn't just remade...it's been remade (literally) about seven times... It's sickening.
Yeah, I've had three people talk about Hostel...two said it was amazing (co-workers) and the third was my brother who said it sucked...I don't know who to believe :-/.
"this has been done... but ya know, this generation wants to see it in the more fx gear we have. REMAKE!! they're too lazy to go to the video store & rent the old version (& we'll change the title even!!) & kids will love it."
It's like, they would never friggin touch "Night of the Living Dead."
"Huh? What's that? Dude! It's in black and white! That's OLD! I don't want to watch that! If I haven't heard about it from my friends or MTV, I don't want it!"
So the second they remake it and advertise the remake on said MTV, they suddenly think it's the coolest shit ever.
Dude. I AM SO FUCKING EXCITED ABOUT HILLS HAVE EYES.
Wes Craven was the executive producer....IT GOT AN NC17 RATING.
They had to cut it down to an R for theatrical release...but it'll be uncut on dvd. Mr. Craven says its one of the most intense movies he's seen. The violence in it is supposed to be insane.
Hostel, was indeed really good. and I dont know if you caught it but Takeshi Mike was in the movie too. (he directed Ichi The Killer and a few other japanese horror flicks....he's known for over the top realistic gore). He was the guy that said "be very careful, you'll spend all your money in there"
I like Eli Roth. I cant wait to see what he churns up next.
oh and speaking of horror movies....Spike Lee directed a new one, and its a fresh idea. but I mean...SPIKE LEE. I'm excited about that one.
*cuts off girl's eye...pause....gooo pours out......everyone in audience almost throws up*
Y'know, I knew that guy looked familiar... that's why.
Spike Lee?
He already did a horror, man... ever seen Summer of Sam? Or does that not count as horror?
Should be good anyway
Oh, and that eyeball part... I actually gagged. It wasn't the goo that got me, it was the SNICK sound the scissors made when it cut through her optic nerve. Almost threw up my Starbursts...

Go see it.
LOTS of tasty gore. Made me squirm... some scenes are pretty painful and realistic... especially if you've had surgery as many times as I have...
