Had you been an engineer, you'd find that perfidious, spurious, stupendous, and ornery are in frequent use.

Clearly, you're just hanging out with the wrong people.

You probably know this, but R and L translate to the same sound in Japanese. Translating back you just pick one. So in the kana, "refleshing" is actually the correct transliteration--someone just picked the wrong one when rewriting it in English.

I like your interpretation a lot better, though.

Funny, that's the exact same comment you left when I posted the entry originally :)

*Brobdingnagian

And, mere minutes after reading this, I found myself in a waiting room with a Smithsonian magazine containing an article describing a 55ft cast-iron statue of Vulcan's calves as "brobdingnian."... I think.

Now whelmed, to the power of several prepositions, with self-doubt. Maybe it wasn't.... see what happens when I meet a new word that I feel like I should already know? That's why a large vocabulary is important. Fewer intimidating words lurking in alley ways.

So, er, I guess the earth is still in orbit n' stuff.
