There is a story I started about 20 years ago, perhaps more. I found the three page printout of it in a pile of other things I was putting into my current computer so I could get rid of the bushel of random papers that I had found

A good start! "Bemused" is not the word you want, but I'm not sure what is...

I had considered Bemused, Bewildered or even Perplexed. She is not entirely confused at that is going on(the raid), but the actions of Lord Vemi are strange to her as the station she has held all of her life has been enough below him that he barely even looked at her as more than an entertainer. At least she thought so.

Definitions of words and the precise nature of words has slid over the years. Just like clothes, words are fun to try on.
