That was a better show and dine than I expected from this place. Over the top, but that part wasn't a surprise. If you take into account the people in it and the subject of the song. Shit, I can't stop humming it.

[Thomas, perhaps better known as The Sorrow, closed the book sitting on one of the many tables. Making his way outside, his oilskin coat hung against his somewhat slim frame, which hid years of military training. With the hood drawn over his face, it gave his features something of an eerie shadow. As if looking into nothingness, and two piercing eyes looking back at you. It gave the older gentleman quite a creepy appearance. Holstered against his chest was the handgun he had mentioned previously.

The older man made his way for the entrance, and gave a nod of greeting to Mello.]

[... Besides the fact that he seemed to have landed a wannabe Sith Lord for an exploration partner, at least the guy looked competent. They had two handguns, and the other guy sounded like he was smart enough to know how many bullets he had left.

In this kind of place, that was about as much as Mello could ask for, at this point.]

Hey. Thomas, right?

[He stood from the lean he'd taken against the wall of the hallway and turned on his communicator, indicating the electronic map of the city he'd scrounged some time ago.] You probably know the streets better than I do, but this'll be new territory for both of us. Weapons shop is roughly due east on Marshall; should be a pretty easy find.

The problem'll be the fact that we've got no idea what kinds of monsters like to lurk over that way. Probably nasty shit. [He paused, raising an eyebrow: questions now or never.]

[Thomas pushed his glasses up and glanced over the map, taking a moment to memorize the location.]

It shouldn't be terribly difficult. Just keep our wits about us, and we should return safely. While it is a short distance away, most monsters tend not to wander in so close. We shouldn't have too much problem, if they haven't changed so much from when I arrived.

Expect the dogs around there, as well as those exploding barrels and.. Hm. There was something else.

[Nevertheless, it was a location at the outskirts of the city--which was a bad place to be. Mello knew that firsthand. Just a taste, but that and the warnings were enough.]

The exploding... oh, those. And I've encountered a monster that looked like live... things? Fused to tables. Not sure what it does, but it didn't look pleasant.

[In any case--]

We should get going before it gets any later. [He had something to do in the afternoon, besides. This was going to be a quick in-and-out job, unlike the other time. He might even have time to enter everything into inventory--which was a whole other can of worms.]

[Thomas seemed to pay no mind to the scar on Mello's face, likely having seen worse in his military career.]

Yes, I agree. [He reached into his coat, to a holster strapped against his chest. A full clip in the handgun, plus two more located on his person. Ammo was scarce, unfortunately. Gripping the gun in his left hand, the older man nodded to Mello.] Shall we?

[It was always a refreshing thing in this place to deal with someone who possessed both brains and efficiency. A lot of the brainpower here went to the talking heads.

He stashed his communicator and allowed himself a smirk--private bet with himself: survive the trip unscathed, and he'd take himself down another half a chocolate bar. (He had to ration chocolate. He hated this place.)]

Yeah.

[The streets were quieter this early in the day, although some of the animals were already stirring. He'd laugh if they had a full ecosystem going--although judging by the fact that they all seemed to attack the inhabitants, probably not.

He was admittedly curious about his companion; Russian notwithstanding, the guy looked like he'd been places.]

... How'd you find that talent show they put on?

Quite amusing, actually. It was rare to hear anyone sing or play music for a few months. Seeing the children perform, and Sakon's act was a delight as well. It was the sort of peace I'd like to see continue on in such a place.

[Now The Sorrow had shown a little of his hand. While unaware of Mello's ability to speak Russian, he had some suspicions about the younger man. This one was...different. All the same, he kept his suspicions to himself.]

I could ask you the same question, seeing as you haven't been here long. You'll find most of the inhabitants pleasant enough to be around, if lacking a little in the common sense department.

[Polite as he was, The Sorrow certainly knew how to be blunt.]

[If something caught Mello's eye or ear, he pursued it.] Did something happen to make those months that way? From all the complaining on the network, you'd think this happened every other day.

[He did take note of the fact that the other man had given his opinion on the matter; although whether he mean it literally or in another way entirely remained to be seen.

Thomas's generalized assessment drew out a half-grin, however.] Only a little? [At least the guy didn't beat around the bush--Mello found himself pleased with that as well. He paused for a moment, scanning the area they were moving through.] It wasn't that bad. Nice break from boredom.

OOC || Whether there are any monsters in their vicinity at present is up to youuu. \o/

[The Sorrow figured this information couldn't do any harm, and having a knowledgeable pair of hands around if he showed up again would certainly help, and he had a good feeling about Mello.]

We had a number of problems. Mass monster invasions, there was also an immortal serial killer. A young boy went off to face him, but he became twisted from the encounter. To my knowledge, he's back to normal now. There was plenty of infighting between all that, it was quite turbulent.

The murderer managed to kill about 19 people. Because of the nature of his activities, they could not come back to life as normal. They were..it's hard to describe. Very sad. Ghosts that could do harm, they all died in violent ways.

Invasions...? [So the current infestation was actually considered a normal level? He wished he could say he was surprised.] Shit, that sounds like the Dark Ages all over again or something. I'm going to need more details--like names and whether or not these elements are still in the city.

[Death did all sorts of weird things here, apparently. He shouldn't be surprised there could be ghosts. Although that begged the question: if a non-native could create ghosts, what had happened to the ghosts of the previous inhabitants?]

[Scratching his chin in thought before answering.] The boy is still here, to my knowledge, but the murderer is gone.

To my knowledge, there are few dangerous elements left. More than usual, anyway.

Who's the boy?

[It looked like they would reach the spot marked 'Weapons Shop' on the map with no real hindrances; there were others in the streets, though not many this early, and maybe they were just lucky with distractions. For now.]

There's a usual level of danger around here?
