Bulbs - i bury them extra deep so the squirrles cant get them. In the winter i cover the more tasy bulbs with chicken wire. It seems like once they come up, they leave them alone.

Hot pepper on the ground or pepper that you use on pizza (looks like pepper seed) seems to work.

I just talked to a buddy of mine. Apparently I can buy small game bird shot for my 22. He says it makes about as much noise as a pellet gun and is actually safer than a pellet gun. I'm stopping tomorrow and picking some up.

Make sure it is legal first.

Plan B is to give them something tastier to eat. I mix my tasty bulbs with daphadils and that helps too.

Why not get a bag of squirrel corn for the squirrels? The corn might distract them from your bulbs.
