In the past I've never used potato vines in the yard or containers until this year. Yesterday I went through and pulled up the vines and to my surprise I had potatoes two white ones and a red one. There may be more in the container but I didn't want to disturb the Hyacinth in the container to find out. Today I get to move in more mulch for the ( Read more... )

You need to get all the potatoes out of the ground, otherwise thats how you develop opatae blight.

I've never even had a vegetable garden before let alone potato plants. If I bring the container in for the winter will I still have to tear apart the container to get out the tubors? I tried digging (no pun intended) up info online about potato blight but everything online was geared towards a farm it seemed and not the container garden.

Thats because it is assumed containers get new soil every year. The soil gets tired and has to be refreshed.

The yard isn't looking like anything right now other than clean. Everything has been cut back or dug up for the winter.
