Two of My New Snakes (cross-post)

I recently acquired a few new snakes. Two of them are from a reptile rescue organization. One, which I've yet to photograph, is a 11 yr old bullsnake named Cleopatra. He (yes, he) is a bit pissy, so I'm letting him calm down a bit before I disturb him. I fed him a couple days ago & hopefully he'll be a bit easier to handle!

The other snake I ( Read more... )

*lol* yeah...limit! That's a fun story & and of itself. My mother and I seem to have this weird thing going on when it comes to snakes. We've swapped a few and I've let her take possession of a few. And then I got the new Vision cages...I even have an empty 10 gallon these days!

While my mother was here this weekend, she walked off with my amel corn & great plains ratsnake.

And then, of course, a lot of my snakes have grown up and aren't requiring food as frequently & that leads to overall reduction in cost to feed them, believe it or not.

I currently have 30 snakes at my house. That's one less than I had a month ago. I keep hovering right around the self imposed limit. :)

P.S. I'll respond to your garter comment tomorrow. I HAVE to get some sleep.

PS (again)

Christmas is a doll. Eventually she'll probably go live at my mom's house. Not sure though. I need to get a pic of her with my other corns. It's interesting to see her coloration next to my other normal corn. So different. Her scales are iridescent in places. You can kinda see it in one of her pics.

I can tell it's a water snake. The head gives it away. But then, I love garters & water snakes & I'm decent at identifying snakes I like.

yup!

My bullsnakes do that sort of thing too - but it's always the eyes that give them away (well, plus I don't think their patterns are similar enough)...

And of course, water snakes & garters have those lovely stripes under their eyes (love those)
