i am trying to determine if i should be rid of this journal, i love checking in and reading all my friends entries, but i dont seem to do a whole lot of writing in here myself. any thoughts?

I regularly wonder about that myself for my journal. The only real advantage of having one in that case is you get to see all the friends-only entries of people on your list, and you wuld loose that without the journal. No reason you have to update it and as long as you don't have a paid account you don't loose anything.

i have tried to convince several people to open LJ accts for the sole reason of being able to read friends-only posts and to be able to organize various journals via their friends page. so for that alone i think it makes complete sense to keep it.

if it does seem a nuissance for whatever reason, you can still do this through your writing blog, which you may still put to use sometime here? *wishful thinking*
