Today, I went to the initiation ceremony for newly registered Phi Beta Kappa members (of which I was invited to and did register for), and now I am an official member :). Supposedly one of the most prestigious honor societies in the nation, and it made me really happy to hear from the speakers that Phi Beta Kappa supports and celebrates the

I'm glad you decided to join! It is indeed a very prestigious honor society! I got an invite in undergrad, too, but I had absolutely no clue what it was (the Greek-letters-only name didn't help either--made me think it was some sorority)...so I didn't accept. :-[ I still regret that.

Anyway, congrats! :D

Oh, you're telling me about the confusion with it being just another sorority! All the talk in the email/letter about it being the 'most prestigious honor society', etc., made me ask a few other people about whether it was really true or not, and they flipped out about me being invited to become a member. Even my dad knew about it, which I personally had no clue of until I told him I had become a member - I never knew! XD Goes to show how in the dark I can be, I suppose. XP
