Day 24: Favorite Athlete From Your Favorite Sport

How fitting that this challenge is today. I'm on a football high right now. So nobody will bother reading this, who cares? It must be said.

This week has been so hard for Manchester United fans with the whole Wayne Rooney transfer saga. I for one was truly taken aback when Sir Alex confirmed Wayne Rooney's desire to leave the club. If that wasn't painful enough to see your manager looking so defeated and hurt, Wayne later on released his own statement about how he wanted to leave because he doesn't think United is 'challenging' enough to win titles in the future. Hearing one of my favorite players say that about the club I have grown to love was just heartbreaking as a fan. And although that issue has been put to bed by the club and Rooney, and that Wazza has signed a five-year contract with the club, it still doesn't cancel out the things he said.

I'm so happy he's decided to stay and that he has apologized to SAF and the team, but I think he needs to earn the respect of the fans back after his comments. The fans that have stood by him through everything he has gone through, both on and off the pitch, felt betrayed. I can't blame them for not wanting to support Wayne's decision to stay right away. But as for me, I will support Wayne Rooney the moment he comes back to play for us again. He just needs to try and regain the trust and respect of everyone while he's at it.

I love Manchester United. This is the first football team I have fallen in love with, and nothing and no one can change that fact. I can honestly say that I love all the players in this club and I will support them no matter what. But my love goes beyond just individuals because what makes this club great is the teamwork and effort that they put into every match. There is a sense of pride and history among the players, and a will to succeed and to never give up. I'm proud to have players like Giggs, Scholes, Neville and Ferdinand who are perfect examples of what United is about. And I'm even more proud to see young talented guys like the Da Silva twins, Jonny Evans and Javier Hernandez who are all keeping the tradition alive. What makes them all special is that they don't see themselves as 'star players', although they have all the reason to considered one. For them, every goal, every victory, is a team effort. In the same regard, losing also means losing together. Credit is given but is not exaggerated. Many saw the possibility of Rooney leaving as a huge blow for the club. This may be true, but it's not like it hasn't happened before. No player is bigger than the club. Big name players have come and gone but United always manages to bounce back from that. That's my United. If we don't succeed or we suffer a huge blow, we get up and we try harder. Every season, Manchester United manages to remain competitive. If Wayne wanted a glimpse of the life of United without him, he should have watched today's match. In this club, there will always be someone ready and willing to step up when he is needed by the team, and today was just a testament to that.

This boy has made me proud since the day he put on a United shirt. Chicharito's two goals were brilliant and were just enough to secure our first away victory in the Premier League. I can't even begin to describe how happy I am for this boy from Guadalajara who signed for the club seemingly unnoticed in the summer, and who is now one of the biggest rookies in the EPL. What makes it more amazing is the fact that he is one of the nicest, most humble players you will ever see. If this is what the future will look like for United, then I say we have every reason to be excited.

"Here there are no heroes, it is about the team."

So you ask me right now who my favorite player is? I say my whole team. Today was a turning point for us, and for myself as a fan. I cannot and will not single out only one player because every single person in this team deserves all my love. We may not win all the time, we may concede the odd goal here and there, and I may get angry and frustrated a lot, but I will never not love this team.
