i think the canon zr series delivers the best bang for the buck however, hi8 seems to have a better resolution,, the zr series is mini dv, which is the way to go,, as far as mini dv goes it seems to be the industry standard for digital film making however, when mini dv digital films ae produced they are usually made on a high end professional mini dv camera which has CCD (charge coupled device) for each primary color (red, green and blue) which delivers superior image quality. now while a consumer hi8 camera also does not have the ccd processor it for some reason looks better than your typical consumer mini dv without ccd.... so in conclusion,, for the best price, best camera in mini dv i would go with the canon zr series (look on ebay) and buy it used...very cheap ( ... )
