I've always thought that pap smear sounded like a name given to some jovial fisherman grandfather with the last name smear. Maybe thinking of a smiling, bearded, elderly man in the classic yellow rain-coat and hat and golloshes will help you fight your Obstetrical and Gynecological demons.
Ah yes, good ole' Pap Smear.
