I heard SO many stories about how people refd. or coached and they quit because they couldnt stand the way everyone screamed.
It's not cause youre weak, or less of a person or any of that. Its just cause people are assholes and dont know how the meaning of sportsmanship and make it hell on the court.
Most other jobs like that you probably KNOW that you dont want to do that, like for me its being a lawyer or being a politician. I wouldnt be able to put up with the bullshit, and the debating and all that crap, but I dont think I would have even expected youth sports to be like that if it wasnt for all the stories I ended up hearing.

It's a simple fact of life that we won't be good at everything that we try. It seems that reffing basketball is also very difficult. Besides, you've never been big into basketball, so it's really not that surprising that you'd find reffing it difficult. But, like you said, you're a softball goddess, which makes it so much easier for you to ref effectively.
I'm glad you tried something new, but I beg you, don't let this eat you up. You're not weak, there's nothing wrong with you. There's nothing wrong with me because I can't sing. There's nothing wrong with me because I don't have what it takes to run a marathon.
