It occurred to me that I should mention that DRAGONWALKER is back in pixels this month (LIVE BY THE SWORD is the third in the series; ENDICOTT REX, the second in the series, is still available too). Also back in pixels is MASTER PRESTON'S BRIGHT BOTTOM which is part of the Paulo & Preston series.

DRAGONWALKER first appeared in the Torquere anthology ANOTHER FINE MESS and MASTER PRESTON'S BRIGHT BOTTOM was part of the COLLARS TOY BOX collection.

Carry on,
Lee xo

You teach sociology? MASSIVELY jealous. I took soc/psych classes last year and they were some of my favorites that I've ever taken.

I feel like I have it easy when it comes to sexuality. I came out as bi when I was thirteen, came out as a lesbian in sophomore year of high school, and though I had a little opposition from my parents, I've never been bullied, nor have I had any serious issues with family. I consider myself really really lucky, and I can only try to empathize with people who are told every day that who they are is wrong.

Heh, yeah, I'm massively lucky. I teach in an urban community college -- literally the world in my classrooms.

Like you, I didn't have too hard a time coming out, though it took me far longer. The thing that got me to become more active and vocal was the realization that many of my GLBT students were struggling with their identities and the responses of others. There's a myth out there that college is this great free open community but that really isn't true everywhere. So I got discouraged, and then I got angry...and then I got involved. I hope it makes a difference. :)

If the day gives even one teenager the courage to stick out the bullying and disapproval it would be wonderful.

Any idea why the UK is a day behind? Usually we either use the same day or have our own day in a different week or even month. Maybe the internet was an awful lot slower in 1988 and the message took a day to get here.

I know just what you mean. This year I've been particularly moved by Dan Savage's YouTube channel It Gets Better. Celebs and ordinary folks talk from the heart to young GLBT folks to convey their stories and the simple message that if you live through your teens, you can find more opportunities to live on your own terms.

(Not nattering on to distract you from the fact that I have no idea why UK's Coming Out Day is a day later -- honest. Time zones, maybe?)

As an aside, I think viewing your journal today has given me an incentive to consider upgrading to a paid one if I ever do much in the way of marketing here. Currently the ad that's running on your page (in addition to the really annoying video one that comes up the first time you try to open it) is one for a prescription treatment for herpes. I know you don't control what ads run, but that suggests to me that LJ's algorithm for matching content and add topic is *really* tasteless ( ... )

Oh, dear! Fie on algorithms. (Bigger fie on payng for an account..., but you make a compelling point.)

I built my own closet door slowly came out, first to partners, then at work, then to friends and family. There was a lot of puzzlement and consternation but very little negativity. I live in a liberal part of the country, come from an unconventional (if not entirely liberal) family, and work in academia. I got lucky.

I love your solution of literally mass mailing you coming out! There should be special stamps for that!

You know what would be a *really* good way of celebrating Coming Out day?

Posting some Lys and Tywyll and Meco and Cynar.

Just sayin'

You have got to be the Servant of the Seasons boys' biggest fan, Meridae! Believe me, I appreciate it. :) I'm thinking of working on this 'verse some more over the winter, and I'll be sure you know all about it! L xo

I can't help it - I love apocolyptic sod busters, or anything where the boys get back to nature and do the self sustaining thing (Laney Cairo's "Fand" is also a favorite of mine).

Besides, you gotta admit - you did leave the fourth story in a really horrible place that just BEGS for more!!

Or maybe that was Meco begging . . I forget.

I would like to know what happens to Myrdi. And smoothing the arc + expanding the story is definitely on my writing fire. :)
