One of the ways I become a better writer is by reviewing. I used to review a lot more, but I’ve scaled back due to writing and real life demands. One of the sites I used to review for, the terrific RAINBOW REVIEWS, has also closed to new reviews (though you can still view the ( Read more... )

just out of curiosity, have you given any consideration to postng these over at Goodreads? I personally like to check out what authors I admire have read and liked, and a lot of those books then go on my TBR list!

That's a good question, Tracy. So far I haven't done much more with GoodReads than synch up my blog and create an author page.

The m/m branch of GLBT fiction is such a small world that the longer I operated in it, the more incestuous reviewing felt (and not in an edgy twincest way, either!). So I'm not comfortable doing ratings or new reviews over there. I might list some books I like, though. That's a thought...

I can kind of understand not wanting to do the whole rating thing; but without hitting stars, you can probably add a review. But, yeah, it'd be good if you have shelves of stuff you enjoy without ratings; I'm pretty sure I haven't bothered to rate half of what I've got on my shelves (but then, they don't have an option for "OMG It was so bad I wanted to throw my computer at the wall!"). I think I prefer the reviews to the ratings, anyway -- "I really liked it" is great, but I'd rather know WHY you liked it. So I can maybe figure out why I do or don't like it...

I agree, Helena. It's fun to revisit some books I really enjoyed, and the Chaos Magic series stands up as one of the best!
